I should hope the lasses should go the next time. Interesting reasons for each first gift.

Author Reply: It's going to be fun when Sassy turns three. Ruby and her will have a great time looking for first gifts.

Children do grow up so fast. I was warned about it, as a young mum, but even so I was taken by surprise at the cessation of lap-sitting and bedtime stories and make-believe tea parties... Diamond is luckier by far than she knows.

Author Reply: Yes, she is.

I must confess that my daughter did sit on my lap and cry a few time in her teens. I do miss some things about this younger days.

Thanks for taking some of you scarse time to review. I really do appreciate it

Oh, I love the tradition of fauntlings and their first gifts! It's so adorable and hobbity. Little Ruby is so cute and Faramir and Bandy make terrific big brothers--and I love the gifts she picked out.

It's also good to see Pippin and Diamond enjoying themselves with one another again, being easy together once more.

I'm looking forward to the children's visit to Buckland and Uncle Merry. I've forgotten--did your Faramir spend his earliest years at Crickhollow? Or did they all live at the Great Smials right after Pippin and Diamond got married? So many authors do it differently that I get confused. Just thinking if Faramir had lived in Buckland a while when he was tiny, he might remember a little bit.

PS: The faunt's birthday reminded me--Kaylee Arafinwiel wrote an adorable series about all of Gerontius Took's children on their third birthdays: The Old Took's Faunts. I thought you might get a kick out of it.

Author Reply: I'm glad you liked Ruby's birthday gifts. I had fun writing this chapter.

Pippin and Diamond, Diamond especially, knows that their seperation was not good for either of them. The good that did come of it is that they now appreciate each other more. Now that they're getting things back together, Diamond dreads the time apart that she'll have to go through while Pip takes the lads to Buckland because she's afraid they'll drift apart again. That's not going to happen, and she knows that on one level but not all, but she still worries just a little.

I'm working on the Buckland chapter now. I'm hoping that since I'm staying home from work tomorrow, I can work on it and, maybe just maybe, get it posted this weekend or early next week. As for where Faramir was born: I had him born at Great Smials. I had Pippin moving back there when he got married. He could no longer avoid dealing with his father and had to take up the responsibility of being the heir to the Thain.

I have read Kaylee Arafinwiel's story and it is totally adorable. :) I really need to read it as one longer piece since I read it as it was posted to e-mail.

Thanks for the continued support and encouragement.

I want you to know that you have that two-to-three year old persona down very well! I have spent almost twenty years of my adult life as a teacher in the
eighteen months to three year old class at church. Some of them are slow and do not talk until the end of that time, but many are speaking complete, if mispronounced, sentences by the time they are two. They are very interested in what bigger children are doing, and want you to know that they are not babies anymore! You have little Ruby "spot on". And Pippin and Diamond are again interested in "warm water and soft sheets"? Hooray! There have been some good stories written showing both Pippin and Merry having troubles in their marriages. But I prefer my favorite Hobbits to over come their problems and largely live in "Happily Ever Afters"!

Author Reply: You are making smile and blush. I was hoping I hadn't totally forgotten the toddler mindset, even though it's been several years since I dealt with that age. Glad to know I had it right.

I always wanted them to work everything out and be happy again. I just got sidetracked and spent several years away from the fandom and when I came back I realized that I needed to get this story written. This one is looking like it's going to be long and fun to write.

Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it more than you know. :)

What a sweet set of gifts for Ruby's enlarged family. I hope Sapphire likes her leaves! Heh!

Author Reply: At almost 10 months, her parents are going to be kept busy just making sure she doesn't try to eat them. :)

“I big like Bandy and Far’mir now?”

Awwwww. That's so precious.

Author Reply: You would not believe how hard it was to remember how three-year-olds think and talk. :)
