Thranduil, King of Mirkwood  by jenolas 4 Review(s)

Thranduil did not need to hear the reports - from that spot on, jenolas, your tale is a bit hard to read - formatting problems.

But never mind that - the tale was worth any problem to read.

'Each time the advancing sunlight was reflected from the remains of the armour or weapons that littered the ash covered valley floor, it seemed to him that the Valar were blessing those who would not return home.'

My favorite line! Wow!

And I loved the clasp that would someday name Thranduil's child. And the farewell with his mother and the banner! That was great!

I am writing a little Legolas tale, bound with the history of his grandfather. It was nice to see my thoughts are not original - I know I'm on the right path!

Many thanks for this viewing of the Elves of Mirkwood.

This is an absolutely wonderful story. I love the way how you portray the Silvan Elves in general and their Kings in particular. There is so much truth in their thoughts, and the differences between them and their wealthier kin of the West is so meaningful.

Author Reply: I am so pleased you enjoyed this glimpse into Thranduil's world and that of his people and that my portrayal of the characters is to your liking.

What a wonderful story, Janolas. I have not yet come across such a well written story about Thranduil's life as a warrior in the great battles against the dark lord. You have put so much emotion in this story, Thranduil's heart ache when losing his beloved father. I am very fond of Thranduil and was glad that you painted such a wonderful picture of his character.

Thank you for sharing.

Author Reply: I am very pleased that you enjoyed this story and my portrayal of Thranduil. He is an interesting character to explore, a noble and majestic elf who has faced much hardship, and has won the adoration and respect of his people. Not to mention having fathered such a brave and noble warrior as Legolas!

I am a devoted admirer of the Woodland King and through this tale hoped that readers might see him in a more positive light, (as he deserves to be), than he is usually portayed.

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments, feedback is very much appreciated.
