Men for all Seasons  by Linda Hoyland 3 Review(s)

Seeing the succession of leadership through the eyes of this pair of women has been fascinating, and very likely. I much enjoyed this.

Author Reply: Thank you so much. I'm pleased this felt real to you.

That was beautiful, seeing the passing of the rulership of the Dunedain through the eyes of its ordinary citizens. I wish they had been there when Aragorn was crowned by Gandalf before the gates of Minas Tirith. Or even their daughters, or more probably a son/grandson who rode with the Gray Company to find him in Rohan?

I wonder if there was a separate coronation ceremony signifying Aragorn's kingship over Arnor, or was that already assumed, since he was Chieftain of the Dunedain?

Or did he come into it on the day Elrond surrendered the scepter of Annuminas to him?

Anyway, thanks for a beautiful story. I enjoyed it. Hoping for more...

I just love this. What a realistic and well-written progression from one leader's oath to the next. And oh, wouldn't it be marvelous to witness this:

Next came the sons of Elrond, one carrying the sceptre of Annúminas and the shards of Narsil, while the other bore the Elendilmir upon a silken cushion.

Have you ever written of Aragorn finding the site of Arathorn's grave? Maybe led there by one of the sons of Elrond? I'd like to read that scene.

That would be a great plot idea!
