I am glad too that Sam didn't drown! I ache for Frodo's true reason for wanting to teach Sam.

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Frodo would never have pressed Sam to learn swimming. And luckily he was there at the right moment to save Sam from drowning. Now that Sam has changed his mind he might learn how to swim after all. If not from Frodo then maybe from Merry or Pippin.

As the Gaffer says, 'You won't go far when standing still.'

That is VERY true :-D

Author Reply: Actually, Sam does eventually learn (though not from Merry or Pippin) in my story "Up the Withywindle". But he never really practices it once he does learn. On the other hand, I believe that he allows Merry and Pippin to teach his own children the skill.

*grin*

Indeed a good deal of trouble might have been averted had Sam learned how to swim, but all worked out well in the end, of course. I love Frodo for accepting Sam's decision without nagging at him.

Author Reply: Indeed, as you say!

Frodo would never nag or push Sam to do something he didn't truly wish to do. He's far too considerate of others to do that.
