It is an interesting idea that a Rohirric horse may have contributed to the attack, as Dunlendings would think that Boromir is from Rohan. Luckily he managed to surprise the attackers into retreating! The journey to Imladris must have been difficult and dangerous, even to such a good soldier as Boromir.
