Alas, what a last letter to leave! I am so glad that Gandalf saved Faramir as he did, and that Faramir recovered under the healing hands of the King to find the love of his life. Congratulations on the placing of this story! Author Reply: Thank you. I'm pleased you enjoyed my story. Thank Goodness indeed that Faramir was saved! I was pleased to win as I rarely do nowadays.

Believable, and well done. Denethor's voice shines forth in the letter, very true to Tolkien's portrayal of his last days, and the madness that the orb-based despair drove him to. I love the little details you always include in your stories, like the contrast between the majestic hall and the cosy study. Author Reply: Thank you. I'm pleased you enjoyed my story and Denethor felt real to you. I like to try to bring the setting alive.

Chillingly well done, Linda. Oh, to have been caught in the grip of such madness at the end, to believe such things...I am glad that Aragorn has nothing but pity and understanding for one who could have been a brother to him. I can see why this placed first. I would have voted for it too. :) Kaylee Author Reply: Thank you so much. I'm delighted that you enjoyed this glimpse of Denethor.

You called me back from the darkness. Indeed he did, and I wonder if he could have done the same for Denethor, given the chance. This is very nicely written, my friend. Author Reply: Thank you. I doubt Denethor would ever listen to Aragorn, alas. He seemed to be the one person Aragorn couldn't reach.
