Beyond Imladris  by PSW 6 Review(s)

Oh my gosh! I love this chapter. Arti is just...perfect. So hobbity and good-hearted and perceptive. Love that someone caught on and Estel could stop holding back and being brave and just be honest.

I loved so much about it but I'm really impatient to read on! :D

Author Reply: Thank you! It was fun to write a Hobbit...they're such good folk. And yay for perceptive adults... :-)

I feel much better now! Thank goodness for perceptive adults. Estel is doing his best, but he's a lost kid. I thought sitting as far from Ferrier as he could get would look odd to Luanna. I thought she might suspect Estel was being abused. So his assertions that Ferrier isn't a bad man are probably necessary.

The Hobbit hole sounded wonderfully cozy. It never occurred to me that you might have to go down stairs into one but that makes sense. And of course, a Hobbit's understanding of a snack would be just what a growing boy needs. Ferrier sounds really sick though.

"Ada" would be a big clue that home is among Elvish folks, assuming the people here recognize the language.

Author Reply: Yes...no matter how sympathetic Estel is to Ferrier's plight, he is far from home and frightened -- the dynamics between them will never be (or look) right. I enjoyed describing the Hobbit hole and the food, as Tolkien was always so wonderfully descriptive about those homey comforts, and it was time for Estel to get a bit of a break. :-P Now we'll see where they'll take it from here...

Thanks so much for reading and commenting! :-)

Another lovely chapter. So nice to meet Hobbits again. Arti is a true Hobbit.

Poor Estel, glad he's found someone to trust!

Author Reply: He is, isn't he! A nice fire and a good snack are necessary no matter what else is happening. :-) I did enjoy writing this bit....

Well, at least what he can tell is now out in the open. They are astute folk, recognizing that "Nate" isn't Jerold's son. I hope they can help Jerold heal.

Author Reply: Yes, I think this will be a good place for Ferrier. Rivendell, among the Elves and so much that was strange for him, was just not right for him....

Well now somebody knows just what is going on, let's hope they are able to get him home and Jarold does not convince people that Estel is telling tall tales!

Lynda

Author Reply: I suspect Ferrier won't be in any shape to attempt that for a while, and hopefully once he's a bit better he'll also be in a better frame of mind -- but he may surprise me, you never know... ;-)

a rush of delighted awe... Exactly how I'd feel in a hobbit hole!

This is my favorite chapter so far. I do love the comfort, food, and warmth Estel is finally experiencing.

Author Reply: I have been looking forward to writing the end of that chapter -- a nice Hobbit hole and some good food is just what Estel needs! :-)
