There's so much to love here! The Yule traditions, so vividly described that I could almost see, feel, hear, smell, and taste them! The wonderfully individual personalities of every single character. I especially resonated with Dora's doubt that things could ever be quite as good, quite the same, while away from her own beloved home. The connections with Rangers and Elves, plausibly done. The look at Drogo as a boy, as well as his endearing siblings. The very interesting method of fortune-telling and Belladonna's Tookish gift for it. And, of course, the end, when Dora begins to see what she may have missed by not accepting her dragon. That, too, strongly resonated, and left me with tears in my eyes. I wonder what the reverse of the dragon might be... the one you meet who seems to promise safety but who strips it all away. A different kind of ring, maybe.

Oh, not fair! Who was the dragon? Maybe I'm being dense, but I didn't see any clues. Author Reply: I'm sorry I never noted your question. I admit that I don't know WHO Dora's dragon was, for she's not told a soul! Perhaps I will explore that one day.

That was a great story and it leaves enough unanswered question for more stories to follow. The most important question: Who was Dora's dragon? Author Reply: I have to admit that I have no more idea as to who might have been Dora's dragon than you do. Sad, really. I might get to that one day! My email has been iffy for well over two years, and I finally got to a cache of old emails and found your comment on "A Dragon for Dora's Yule" all that long ago. I swear I wasn't deliberately ignoring you!

Well done. This tale begging for more and so am I. Author Reply: Ah, but it may be a time before I can write more of Dora's youthful adventures, something she apparently wanted no mare than the Bilbo who declared that adventures made one late for meals! Heh! Thanks so!

What a magnificent Midwinter tale - I'm feeling quite shivery having just finished it. Thank you. Author Reply: And I thank you in return, as well as Dreamflower for offering me such a wonderful challenge to meet!
