This is beautiful...very heartfelt and true to Tolkien. I especially love your characterization of Arwen here. She is truly very wise and very Queenly.

Beautiful. They make such a wonderful couple. Aragorn is lucky to have wonderful wife like Arwen. And vice versa,,, because he is... just Aragorn. Sigh.. I am so please to have found this story. This story hits home. My grandfather was in the second world war and Gofannen reminds me of him. His fate was not like his but I know of so many soldiers that ended up that way. And yet there were a lot of soldiers that prevailed...You conveyed Aragorn's anxiety and sadness so well. I felt for him. Great Story!

A very interesting and unusual perspective on Aragorn's Kingship. Using a veteran and former comrade-in-arms to make the story's point was a brilliant touch.

This is a lovely piece altogether, you know. "Aragorn sat down on the cushioned window seat and breathed his kingdom in..." I am always and ever grateful for an intelligent and grown-up Aragorn, in whatever incarnation or point in his life-cycle so portrayed, in action or contemplation, whether major or minor character in a tale -- but major preferred, of course.

Carry on...

This was a truly excellent chapter in my opinion. Just wonderful. I felt Aragorn's emotion and sorrow in this chapter, especially due to the fact that I have some relation to military personnel in my life....heh.But that's just me.

I especially loved Arwen's advice to Aragorn >_Update soon! please!

Wonderfully insightful piece, and spectacular tactile imagery! What a penetrating snapshot of Aragorn's difficult transition from a Ranger to a King. I have always imagined that he would be unsettled by the pampered life, and find it more difficult to endure than the rigors of the Wild. Your portrayal of Arwen's anchoring of him is also touching without being cloying (and I am not a big Arwen fan). Thanks for your mention of Halbarad - he is one of my often-overlooked favorites!

Hurrah! I will admit I've never really thought about life being anything less than perfect after the end of the war - not idylic perfect, mind you, but no major trauma. Sometimes it's hard to remember that those we idolize and revere are human as well. I'm looking forward to more.
