Umm . . . for a supposed author, I find myself shockingly short of proper adjectives. I said it last night, and I'll say it again - normally I'm not even a fan of reading stories under 5,000 words. But you're disabusing me of this notion, and I've only read two of your stories! That is a beautiful story, and the one line of dialogue from Sam was absolutely perfect. Would you share your trade secrets with me? How do you write good Tolkien fan fiction? You aren't attempting to imitate his style, as far as I can tell, and yet the dialogue is superb. And the last line: "And the King, sensing an approving Presence among them that he could not see, bowed his head in gratitude." Excellent! I haven't found many authors who acknowledge the Creator in Tolkien's world. :) Author Reply: You really warm my heart with such lovely compliments. Back in 2002 when I was writing "Avalanche", I used to lie in bed, close my eyes and imagine the Fellowship stuck on the snowy ledge, and "listen" to what they would most likely be saying to one another. I love the characters, and am always eager to "hear" them conversing. I'm compelled to treat them with respect, and enhance the fondness and respect they feel for one another. It's often the quiet moments, perhaps shared by only one or two people, that can reveal so much. I always feel much more comfortable with dialogue than description, so it's wonderful to know that you're enjoying it. *hugs*

*sigh* That was absolutely lovely. How wonderful to catch a glimpse of Sam, Gardener to the King, and Elessar, and a son of Halbarad into the bargain. As usual, you write in a way that draws me into the scene--I can almost feel the soil beneath my bare feet. The mystical underpinnings are nicely done as well. Author Reply: Thank you, what lovely compliments. I spend so much time trying to imagine these scenes, and am delighted that they ring true for you.

I like that Sam got his say in how the seed was planted. Sweet to have the tree spread to the north. Author Reply: I couldn't imagine this scene without Sam!

A sweet story! Love Sam and Aragorn's reverence and their interaction and the invoking of Yavanna. Namarie, God bless, Antane :) Author Reply: Thank you! Writing this scene made me very happy. I love it when hobbits take part in Royal activities.

This is absolutely lovely! I especially adore Sam's role in it. Thanks for this, and thanks for gracing us with 15 years of your efforts! Author Reply: Thank you for your good wishes. I'll keep writing as long as folks are kind enough to keep reading! Hobbits do tend to sneak into most of my stories, those rascals. :)

Beautiful idea and beautiful little story! I especially liked this line: hero of the West and gardener of renown, in whose heart your song is alive Author Reply: Yay, I'm happy you like this. I suspect that Sam was Very Famous and amazingly respected by then. But still Sam. :)
