Learning patience is the hardest lesson for any of us to learn. Bless Jennifer for her choice!

Author Reply: Yes, it really is. [wry grin] And I agree: Jennifer made the right choice. KG

Lovely way to helpfully spend the day--stuffing pillows and singing nonsense songs!

Author Reply: Yeah, wasn't it, though?! =) KG

Lovely! I do adore spending time with hobbits. Especially the Travellers. Merry holding his breath while concentrating sounds so familiar!

I do have a question about Boromir being addressed as "sire"? I hadn't seen that before.

The picnic makes me hungry. I agree, I'm not a huge fan of jerky, though it will do in a pinch.

I forgot to say how much I enjoy glimpses of Northern and Ithilien Rangers in these chapters.

Best to you and DF.

Author Reply: I adore spending time with hobbits, too!

You'll have to ask Dreamflower about that word. I don't know why she decided that Boromir would be addressed that way.

I'm not sure I'd want to eat jerky even in a pinch! [wry grin]

Best to you, too! =) K.G.

Oh, my. Fundraising, translated to Middle-earth culture. Somehow, it made me think of a story I read quite a while ago, about a sales-and-marketing type who was put into suspended animation for a long time. He woke up in a world without advertising, and so all his accustomed tricks were totally new to the people around him. I don't remember how it came out, though...

And "as brave as a hobbit" - what a lovely byword!

Best to you and DF.

Author Reply: You can thank Dreamflower for that phrase--it was her idea! =)

Yeah, really! Steve and Gail can certainly give the Minas Tirith citizens some ideas for fund-raising, can't they? [g] K.G.

Oh, my! This chapter was such a mix of emotions. First smiling at Kevin's miscommunication mishap, then feeling sympathy for Jen (I worked past 2 and was up at 8 this morning, so I'm better off than she is, but I've pulled a double shift before and feel her pain), then laughing at the two boys, then shocked and worried... (Oh, but how I love to read about Bergil!)

Boromir is such a wise leader. It's no wonder his men loved him so. There's so much mercy and understanding woven into this chapter. And I'm glad Bergil will be okay.

Best to you and DF.

Author Reply: You know what it's like, don't you? It's all too easy to start making mistakes when you're exhausted, and medical professionals can I'll afford to make those mistakes. Fortunately, Jennifer's error was caught just in time. And yeah, poor Kevin! =)

It is most fortunate that Boromir survived, because so much bad resulted from his death, and as you said, he's a wise leader. K.G.

These are wonderful lessons -- and reminders -- about patience. And what a delightful conversation with the hobbits about making time for all those meals!

Author Reply: Yeah, it is, isn't it? =) And definitely wonderful lessons about patience, too. K.G.

The nearby mound where the King of Rohan's white horse had been buried was already beginning to show grass sprouting.

"It is meet that the crown of a king should be a heavy burden, that they not take their responsibilities lightly."

Those are wonderful details.

Author Reply: Thank you very much! I know that Dreamflower thanks you, too. =) K.G.

Ah! An excellent end to the interlude between the war and the return to the White City! Quiet and anticipatory. Am so glad their reunion with the rest of the family will finally occur so soon.

Author Reply: You and others! =) Dreamflower and I are certainly looking forward to posting the chapter about their reunion. K.G.

It really is lovely to have Boromir alive and well to experience all of this, especially the return to his beloved city.

Author Reply: I know what you mean! And it's thanks to Joey that Boromir was able to have that chance. Given that so much bad resulted from his death in the book and the movies, Joey's intervention was able to prevent all that stuff.

Excellent consequences for Kaylee, and equally excellent distractions for the anxious parents.

Author Reply: Yeah, I reckon! =) K.G.
