| This is really lovely! Excellent character work with your originals. There were times when I’d be like, “oh that is so Elenda” and then remember that Elenda hadn’t existed three pages ago. They all felt like true people and Elenda especially had a sure narrative voice. Your ‘message’ here is strong and beautiful, how do you help people, what does it mean to be a hero, how can we pursue Good, without the story becoming bogged down and didactic. Especially within the framework of an epic fantasy universe, your attention to the concrete acts of ordinary people is keen and compelling. |
