As you know I'm an occasional reader of your material. This was one of those stories that caught my eye. Really nice job with characterization of Gandalf in particular. I'll have to find the other stories you mentioned and have a look. Thanks for your hard work on this.

Linda!

I do really like this! It is quite from stories I have written of a similar nature but it has a very lovely sense of the Dunedain about and has given me a few ideas about possible avenues for my stories. Nicely done.

A lovely little story. Wonderful Gandalf/Gilraen interaction. The image of Gandalf escaping the cave, pursued by a bear, strikes me as humorous for some reason...

Author Reply: Many thanks for your much-appreciated review. I'd have liked to see Gandalf escape the bear.

Inzilbeth and Gandalf spoke truly, didn't they? Galraen's son was indeed the hope of Middle-earth, although Galraen had no way of knowing it at that time. Too bad Arathorn didn't live to see his only son grow up and achieve that hope!

For some reason, I felt teary through most of this. It is so beautifully done!

as Arathorn had decided he wanted his bride to live where there were more men to defend her. Yes! this rings so true.

And the glimpse of young Halbarad was delightful.

Haleth sounds like a wonderful companion.

I have become quite fond of Inzilbeth over the course of a single chapter. I'm hoping since you referred to other stories that I might find more of her there?

Gilraen's description of knowing when she conceived reminds me an awful lot of modern-day military life.

A new star will rise for our people! and A new star shall arise, for you carry the Hope of your people in your womb... yes! (And somehow I am reminded of Mary in the Bible, first hearing the angel's announcement and then later hearing Elizabeth's words.) Estel. What a fitting name he came to have. But so sad that he never really knew his father.

I love the fierce cat, and Gandalf's grumbliness transformed to encouragement. Getting out of the rain can be so helpful.

I will have to add the stories you mentioned to my reading list.

((hugs)) Hope this finds you and yours well.

Author Reply: Many thanks for your much-appreciated review. I'm so pleased that you enjoyed this story. Inzilbeth plays a part in "The Healers Journey" and several other stories. I cannot resist including a cat. Hope you are well too. Hugs back.

a portentious beginning for this new life she bears. Love Gandalf's probably joking talk of bears! After all, he knows how to approach Beorn!

Author Reply: Many thanks for your much-appreciated review. Maybe Gandalf just wanted an excuse to meet Gilraen?

This is wonderful. How Gilraen would have welcomed such hope in such an uncertain time. I enjoyed this very much!
