I saved my review to the last as I wanted to read the whole story. This is a wonderful in-depth telling of the story of the Rohirrim, and you have meshed original-characters with canon-characters well, and wrote the canon-characters really well! It felt like the words were naturally coming from the characters I know so well! I could picture the scenes in my mind, and the fleshing out of some of the original characters was well done! Five Stars ***** Author Reply: Hello Hanasian, thank you so much for reviewing! I'm glad to read that you enjoy my story. I am actually really happy with it after this rewrite, as well... although it is far from over yet! There are many more chapters to come. I hope that will enjoy those, as well, and maybe, let me know before the end. I wish you a wonderful Christmas Season. Best, Kat

I went back and looked at that story again. It is "Stirrings of Shadow". It was written back in 2009, it is 15 stories down on his page. That author was special. You ought to get to know his stories. Author Reply: Thanks a bunch for pointing me his way! I will surely look him up. I realize that my reading preferations are rather special in the fandom (Rohan-centric, action-driven), so I'm looking forward to this. :-)

Another thing I have been wanting to ask you. Have you ever read any of author Fiondil's work on this site? He wrote one story set in Thengel king's day, as Aragorn first came to serve him. Theoden was only 8-10 or so. There is a similar premise, Saruman has somehow inspired diaffected Rhirric nobles to plot to take the throne. Aragorn and some Rohirrim rescue hostages out of Edoras through tunnels under the Hall. The royal family and loyal friends take desparate refuge at Dunharrow. There is a last, desparate battle to retake Edoras. At the end, we see Saruman musing, and vowing to bide his time and try again. I think you would enjoy it if you have not already. Author Reply: I never read any of Fiondil's work, but that story idea sound quite intriguing! Thanks for making me aware of it, I will surely look it up!

After finishing "Red Sun" and realizing just what prequel meant, I have started to read the original of this. Half of my enjoyment of a good story is seeing how it is told, how it gets to the ending! I do not mind knowing the ending, i enjoy the journey! My vote would be to leave the old, post this as completely new, and let us compare your different visions. In just my few recent visits, I have become involved with your original characters, too. I will enjoy seeing more of their stories. Author Reply: Hello Demeter, thanks so much for commenting! I'm thrilled to read that you are enjoying my OCs! I really became attached to them writing "Red Sun", and suddenly, it felt strange to have them act mainly as "decoration" in the original "Untold Tales". I guess that was because my focus was so much on Éomer when I wrote it, that here was no time or attention for any other major storylines. It is fun to go back now and see what else would be working in the context of the story. I found that, especially in the first chapters, I did quite a few alterations and additions. There is less in the middle part of the story, as that is mostly action-driven, but I expect that it will pick up again towards the end. I can't wait to read your comparison of these two versions. I must say for myself that I'm - so far - really pleased with the way this has come out, and I hope my Muse will remain on speaking terms with me for the rest of it. I totally plan to leave the old version online (I first started deleting the old chapters over on ffnet and replacing them with the new ones, but found that that would get tiresome and also alienate readers as - with a changed beginning - it would be strange for people to read on and find discrepancies when they arrived at the old part of the stroy). I'm looking forward to reading more from you and wish you a happy weekend! Best, Kat
