This is such a wonderful story! I have always loved Elrond, and his thoughts here are so poignant and heart-touching. I am a fellow fan-fic writer (though I am still in the process of working on all three of my stories), but one of them that I am writing is about their late childhoods, told through the eyes of Elros, Elrond's brother. This story inspired me to think more about how they differently dealt with their pain, and also about Maedrhos and Maglor and the time that they spent with them. Thankyou Aldwen!! Thank you so much for this piece! It is so believable, relatable and fitting into the known story! I would actually love to follow him further in your storytelling… Author Reply: Thank you so much for the review! I am very glad you liked the story!

There are so many layers here! The cycle of seasons (oh yes, and the setting of the story in autumn, progressing to winter, enhances the impact of the emotions in the story), the progression of grief, the sudden-seeming interjection of the ring (and yet, remembering this ring as Elrond's constant companion, and thinking of the Ruling Ring "trying to get back to its master", it makes perfect sense that some kind of awareness would exist between this ring and its wearer, something I had never thought about before... and now, I'm imagining some sort of inner dialog between Gandalf and his ring, but this parenthetical comment is long and rambling enough as it is). And the foreshadowing of future pain and separation, as yet unforeseen. Powerfully written. Author Reply: Thank you so much for the review! This is a great encouragement to keep writing! :)

This piece of writing was really in depth and heart-moving. I loved how Elrond reflected back into his past. My favorite quote: “Yes, it will leave. After the night the new day will awaken. That is the way of life, Arwen. Everything passes, even sorrow. Believe me.” Author Reply: Thank you so much! I am very glad you enjoyed it!
