(It may be too late to post a comment here, but I keep rereading my favorite parts of this story, so here goes...) I love your description of Elrond as having a "kind and beautiful" spirit in spite of all the sorrow he has endured in his long life, but I would have thought it was totally out of character for him to get so angry with Maglor in a later chapter if he hadn't have felt so guilty about it afterward. At least his wife was there to help him come to terms with it. Author Reply: Thank you; I am very glad and flattered you like the story enough to reread it! :-)) It was out of character, but I think everyone, even the kindest and noblest person, has a breaking point. And it was a chance for Celebrian to give some of her thoughts on the whole situation. :)

Great story but leaves a lot unresolved.

I loved this story just like I love all your works related to the Feanorions. Especially since you portray then in a sympathetic manner rather as evil, soulless characters, without being apologetic either. I like Makalaurė Feanorian too and I am always sad for him lonely fate in Middle Earth. I am glad you gave him a happier ending. I have a question: why have you marked this work as AU? I could not find anything that clashed with Canon material in your story. Author Reply: Thank you so much! I am very glad you liked the story! Concerning your question - I am simply quite cautious with regards to the canon, and label everything that extends beyond the timeline of actual stories as AU. And Tolkien did write that Maglor is still wondering the coastlands of Middle-earth. But I could not leave him there. :)

A wonderful, most needed reunion, and the last push toward full healing for more than just Maglor. Again, thank you for this story, one that I needed to read today. Author Reply: Thank you so much for reading and commenting! I am glad you liked it, and I do appreciate feedback: that is such an encouragement to keep writing. I am looking forward to your story when it is finished!

Another moment of healing, and the contemplation of Maglor's own need for more. Lovely details.

But he does not know of the abduction and the wounding she suffered. He does not realize that Elrond himself is not that long reunited with the woman he loved with all of his heart, who at last sight was fading from life herself. She does not yet tell him that she was at least as badly hurt as was he ere she came to the undying lands and found healing herself.

Maedhros has preceded Maglor home. It is time to enlist his experience in such healing to hearten his brother. Good enough!

And through the acceptance of the evil he has done, he has opened the door to the accpetance of his redemption and healing, both physical and of his deeply wounded spirit as well.

Too much fear and regret expended on all sides, leading to too many breakdowns in trust in self and those beloved. I rejoice that Elrond has aided Maglor, and now his son finds himself able once more to aid his father. Healing has come into this room from more than one side.

He needs this comfort, and will soon enough realize the identity of his comforter, as will we. Wife? Brother? Celebrian? Elrond? I look forward to this realization.
