| Oh! This is everything you said it would be, and more! Well done! (And the phrase now that he was recognized as a Man grown has piqued my interest. Where was he before that time? Sharing his mother's quarters? Some sort of dormitory situation for youth? Being fostered? And I forget what "coming of age" would be for his people. I know that Hobbits come of age at 33, but I'm not sure about Elves or Dwarves or Dúnedain or common Men in the Professor's world. I have to admit, however, that when first read LOTR as a girl of thirteen I had quite forgotten Arwen from FOTR, and found myself wondering, where did she come from and why is she marrying MY man? | I had not considered the possibility of "Each of Isildur's heirs" falling in love with Arwen in turn! Fascinating (and somehow heart-tugging, while also raising ponderings about timing and fate). I wonder if the Heirs ever gather together in Mandos and compare notes? (LOL, don't mind me; I'm in a whimsical mood tonight.) Very true to the tale. Author Reply: You have me giggling to think that all of the heirs of Isildur who might have been attracted to Arwen might gather to discuss how their experiences were similar or different from one another, and I find myself wondering if any envied Aragorn for his success in his own wooing of her.
