Clearing the Heir, Part 2  by Lindelea 4 Review(s)

And another long-paused journey resumes! Hooray! You have done a lovely job of taking us back to where we left off. I decided that I had to go back and read the original again, just to pick up the thread. You have so many great images here. You have given each of the lasses their own personalities. My two favorite take away memories out of this are; the vision of an old, feeble Bilbo leaning on Lobelia's loving bosom (NOT! snerk, choke!) and, young Miss Pearl rising to the occasion after being called "my lady" and Bilbo realizing that Paladin must read tales of errantry to his daughters. That creates a vision in the mists of the future of a hobbit lad who grows up hearing, not only his father's tales, but Bilbo's and Frodo's. That hobbit lad will grow up with the courage to have his own adventure! Good Luck with your internet.

I'm glad you've decided to continue this story. And little Pearlie is so cute.

I'm enjoying this story greatly. It's fascinating to follow Bilbo's slow but sure path to bringing young Frodo to live with him.

Author Reply: I'm so glad you're enjoying the story. I always meant to continue it, but somehow the years slipped by. I wanted to write a Yuletide story but didn't have time to sit down and brainstorm one, so I dusted off the continuation of this one and started typing in the chapters.

Unfortunately, while I thought I could get the entire story published by Christmas Day, I've been interrupted many times over the last week, which limited my computer time, and now I'm about to lose internet access for a couple weeks. But there aren't many chapters to this one, so I plan to knock out the rest of it just as soon as I have internet again. I apologize for the delay.

Merry Christmas to you and yours, and thank you for your friendship and encouragement. (((hugs)))

He then reached and chucked Vinca under the chin. ‘I’d be much obliged, in fact, seeing how this one had to set me straight on eggses and ham just yesterday morning!’

Bilbo is so wonderful with children!

Author Reply: I must admit to being heavily influenced by Film!Bilbo telling stories to wide-eyed children at the Birthday Party. It seemed as if he must be wonderful with children. (Perhaps because he's never lost his sense of wonder, or if it was suppressed for a time, it was rekindled when he went off on his (whispered) adventure.
