| That soup sounds delicious and strengthening! And her shock at there having been a battle! ...in Bywater! (The repetition is quite effective in hammering it home.) "no matter what Auntie Arnica used to say" ...I can just hear Auntie going on and on about that wizard-fellow. "He sticks." A perfect summation of loyalty. Oh those pesky brothers... (Rose's father sees more than she knows, I think, and understands, and is wise into the bargain.) Poor Sam! My heart bleeds for him. It's no wonder he begins to speak and then cannot seem to stop himself as the horror mounts higher and there's no relief to be found in the homecoming... ...well, maybe there's unanticipated relief, at that. I love that they started out as friends, that they've been friends nearly all their lives, and that Rose listens so well with her heart, even though her mind cannot grasp the details of what her Sam is describing. And Merry's quick understanding and appreciation underscore all that the Travellers have gone through together, as well as their shared shock at the state of the Shire upon their return. Those two kisses... nicely done. Author Reply: Thank you! Yes, somehow I think the happenings in the Shire would have brought it all down on Sam - who is so connected to the earth itself. | PSW! Another wonderful interlude. I love reading about your Samwise and Rosie. Rosie is so understanding and you really depict the trauma that Sam is experiencing so convincingly. I love their relationship! Did you ever write Sam and Rosie's wedding? I would love to read that if you have. Must dash! Sneaking in a little reading and writing at breaktime at work! | PSW! This was absolutely wonderful. It makes so much sense that after everything Sam has endured that the Scouring of the Shire is almost breaks him. So lovely to hear this story from Rosie's point of view. Love the bits like "Everything I'd fallen in love with (yes, I'm willing to admit it if my brothers can't hear)" and her reactions to Sam's telling of what happened to them. Really well written. The Breach of 2025 has had the wonderful unforeseen consequence of bringing me wonderful new stories to read. ((hugs)) MM Author Reply: Thank you! So happy you enjoyed it.
