Sniff! Sob! Bawl!! Now, what did you go and do a thing like that for? Take a scene that was already heartbreaking and make it even more so! Seriously, this was just beautiful and I believe it marries the story as it unfolds in the book and as it unfolds in the movie version perfectly. This is wonderful! Great job! The scene at the Grey Havens was always one of my favorite despite the fact I always cry when I come to that part - it is so sad and bittersweet yet full of hope because Frodo is going to a place where he can find healing and peace - Still I know his parting with Sam (as well as Merry and Pippin) had to tear his heart in two because he had to leave such beloved friend(s) behind forever - I know, like Sam, he was indeed torn in two! Please be sure to read this story's sequel A Blessed Day here at SoA, and also please know I have a soon coming second sequel to Torn In Two entitled Golden Dawn... Thank you again! P.S. - I wrote this fic long before we ever had a Grey Havens scene in the movies so I am gratified to know that this fic also fits well with what we see in the ROTK!

Wonderful story. You have put so much emotion into the parting and I especially loved this sentence "I lift my arm in farewell holding aloft the Phial of Galadriel". I could so clearly see this in my imagination that it brought tears to my eyes. Beautifully written. Thank you. Janet Author Reply: Thank you so much! I think with this scene I tried to put it into words the way I have always envisioned it since I first read The Grey Havens chapter in ROTK - and I am sure that Sam wasn't truly the only one torn in two that day on the Eastern Shores of Middle-earth - No, I imagine that Frodo wanted nothing more than to stay and not depart to the West but alas he could not... Anyway thank you again!
