Last Hope  by AfterEver 2 Review(s)

What struck me most about this chapter was the sense of otherworldliness you gave to the elves, especially Elrond. I read so many stories involving elves. In most of them, the elves are more like perfect (or almost perfect) humans rather than an alien and unfathomable race. However, through Gilrean, that is the image I get.

On the other hand, Aragorn --- with his child's view of a world where all things are possible and expected --- treats all of the wonder that Gilrean experiences at the elves as ordinary. Perhaps through her son, Gilrean will come to understand this new environment she has been thrust into.

I'm looking forward to her adjusting to life in Rivendell. And to see if life in Rivendell adjusts to its new human inhabitants.

Author Reply: LKK, I've been remiss with responding to my reviewers, but please know that your feedback has been greatly appreciated. I'm thrilled that Elves and Rivendell from Gilraen's perspective is coming across as so, since the impressions you've expressed were precisely my aim. You're right that Tolkien's work inspired my otherworldly portrayal of the Elves and their realm, though the good professor didn't describe Rivendell quite the same as I've depicted it here (though he's more than welcome to take all the credit). I can't thank you enough for your support, and I hope you continue to enjoy the tale until its very end. :-)

This was so good. Well-rounded, well thought out, structured just so to glean only the best out of it. I know that Gilraen must be relieved. I certainly was after her meeting with Elrond. It will be most interesting to see how she settles in with her new family and surroundings. Glorfindel is wonderful, so warm and supportive. And Aragorn - typical child, delightful child, and all boy from how you've written him. What a defining moment when Elrond found his seat of authority occupied by this boy to be king someday. Wonderful moment.

I'm eager for the next chapter. Well done.

Author Reply: Brenda, I must thank you again for your long support. I'm so pleased that the story is to your liking. It makes me especially happy to hear that little details, such as Aragorn taking Elrond's seat, aren't lost on the audience. This story has been a challenge and a joy to write, and I'm ever grateful for its warm reception. Thank you!
