This is My Path  by Tinnuial 7 Review(s)
TariReviewed Chapter: Prologue on 8/22/2007
Legolass mentioned this ficlet and I just had to read it. I'm so glad I did. It was different, but wonderfully so. I couldn't help wishing Leogas and the twins would cross my path some day. Wouldn't that be awesome?

I know you wrote this some time ago, but I thought you might like to know that someone still reads older postings and comments on them. This was very touching and sweet, and so absolutely in character. I've always been intrigued by the possibilies of elves living on into our future and just how they might handle our world. I think you captured just the right tone of loneliness, the sorrow of loss that an immortal being would feel. A very nice tribute to Legolas and Aragorn, and their great friendship.

This was great! I adore speculating what the Eldar would do, and how they would act, were they living still amongst us, and this fic was such a perfect example of how I guessed they WOULD act. I especially loved the perfect blend of justice and mercy in Legolas' good deed. I enjoyed your writing style -- you could tell, even while reminiscing, it was an older man telling the tale -- and adding Legolas' voice to the end of the fic was a satisfying touch. Well done, and congratulations!

I love this story, Tinnuial. Even though I know our beloved Legolas has left Middle Earth, you still still a poignant tale which brought tears to my eyes.

Tinnuial, this is really an extraordinary little story! I've read a few modern-day LotR stories, but never one quite so well done or touching. This is so much something Legolas would do in memory of his friend, and that last paragraph where he is talking to Estel made me cry (I'd managed to control myself all through the story 'til then). A lovely story of the power of friendship and love and how they can affect lives for a long, long time. *sniff* Just wonderful!

I would never read a fic with LoTRs characters set modernly, however, this was certainly a twist. I really wish you would have continued it, wrote a sequel or even a series. That was truly a treat at 1:06 in the morning in my dorm room bored as you can only be in Preston at this time at night. Anyway, if you've written more I'd surely like to know.

Author Reply: Thanks for the review... :)
Ya know...I was not really into modern-day LOTR fics either...but then it really does get you thinking about the "what if's..."
I actually started reading more modern-day fics after I wrote this, and have found that they can be just as entertaining, if not more so!!
I love your work by the way....oh the angst!!! ;)

Thanks again....

Tinnuial,
This was extraordinary! Even with the AU element, it was something that I could see Legolas doing in memory of his long lost friend. I suppose we have all wondered how the elves would react to today's world. Evil remains and is fought on a daily basis, just like they did at the beginning of time. The evil is now not so easily discerned as it was then and is fought in ways that are sometimes forthright and good and other times in ways that are as harmful as the evil itself. Legolas touched this lost child in a way that was as old as the beginning and still as powerful today....he used faith and love to offer hope to a child's heart. It was a lovely reminder of what truth and goodness is all about. Wow! Thanks for sharing this. Karen
