Whew! Made it at last! Not out of the woods yet, but at least they've made it. Elrond better rustle up a whole company of healers -- they're none of them in very good shape...

It's been fascinating seeing how each chapter garnered more and more responses as you posted it. And the description of the whole sequence has been so very well done, I could indeed see it before me. I missed this in the film, Frodo lifting the sword in his final defiance before it fell and shattered and they sought to take him with their wills. Courage in him to the last of his strength.

Author Reply: Omigosh, where was the Frodo-confronting-the-Witchking scene in the film??? It was an incredible omission on Peter Jackson's part.

Wow! Almost as heart-stopping as the original!

shirebound,
There is so much energy and power in this chapter! It rushes and tumbles over itself like the flooded river. I felt swept away and yet stopped still at the same time, the rush of the physical world and the inner battle of Frodo.

I read this the day it was posted but haven't been able to think straight enough to write a response that was worthy. Again, a powerful chapter!!!

In a hurry, but yet another lovely chapter!

Still excellent, although I have no idea how one person can write so much detail just from Bree to Rivendell! Oh, well. The longer, the better :) Keep writing!

Wow.... I thought you reached optimum in the fear factor chapter eight, but this one has got eight beat! Wow. I was actually able to conjure up the image of the scene from your vivid descriptions. I am very glad to hear that you are going to go through the four agonizing days of waiting, and even to the Council of Elrond. Will Aragorn also be by Frodo's bedside when he wakes in this story?

Hello SB dear...
I shall review this here since FF.net won't let me into the chapter.
What a gripping chapter-one of your best yet. I can't wait to see that Witch king get his.
On a lighter note, a sleeping pile of Ents sounds pretty neat. Perhaps they're auditioning for a part in my Firewood story???
Thank you for your help this weekend too...it meant a lot.

My goodness. That was quite something. Very suspensful. I do appreciate that you have shown Glorfindel's strength here. That poor elf is so often overlooked.

Shirebound, this might have been some of your best writing to date. You really captured the tension and anxiety of the moment, very on the edge of the seat kind of reading. And of course, it never hurts to have a shining fierce elf Lord in the midst. (the last line brought to you courtesy of Lord Glorfindel himself). I am truly enjoying this story, and am glad it is nowhere near ending.
