Yes, the worry about the knife and its effects, and what to do if things go THAT far.... You know I've considered what might have been asked. A horrid thought.

Author Reply: A few reviewers on ff.net were dying to have that "what if" scene written -- but it won't be written by me!

Oh my! Even though I *know* they are going to make it to Rivendell, I am anxious...on to the next chapter

Oh, I think this statement struck me the hardest:

“It’s life,” Frodo murmured, “warmth and life. They can’t bear it. It’s the sun they’ll never feel again, and love, and hearts beating, and all the things forever lost to them. Forever lost…”

For Aragorn knows that Frodo may become like that himself. You captured that nicely - put to words what Tolkien implied about the wraiths. How awful their existence must have been. *shudder* And then I think of how close Frodo came to joining them.....

“It used to be a wild place,” Merry murmured sleepily, “but then you moved to Hobbiton, Frodo, and things calmed down considerably, they tell me.”

This has to be my favourite comment in this chapter, though I continue to love your portrayals of Pippin as well as Merry. Yes, they are exactly right.

And Aragorn is so... human, and believable, and not quite bigger than life.

Happily anticipating the next chapter. (o so glad to hear Glorfindel didn't get left out of your planning!)

I actually wrote a long chapter of my own, on how Elrond got the shard out of Frodo, but it was way too much Frodo-torture for my tender feelings, I couldn't bring myself to do anything with it...

I am absolutely loving this story. Bless insightful Sam. He is quite a wise little chap isn't he. Have I mentioned how much I am loving this story : - )

Oh, I loved this! Aragorn's inner struggle is facinating. What will he do if Frodo slips into the wraith world? And Pippin is so intuitive...distracting Frodo so he doesn't dwell too much on what happened. I have a feeling this is going to be a very long fortnight!

Just to be different, I'll leave a review here! ;)

I am again surprised by how much I enjoy this story. For a fic that covers material that has been done by the master already, you bring fresh insights and a lot of new angst with your approach. I am quite eager to read the rest of what you have in store. (and thanks for the sweet comment! I dare say a plug on one of your widely read stories has to be a boon!)
