A very nice adoption ceremony, even if Aragorn's cloak has a few little puppy toothmarks in its hem!

Author Reply: I still remember our pup (a long time ago) gnawing on the ends of our kitchen chairs until they had that "lived in" look.

So, this is how Scamp came to live in Bag End, is it? Marvelous! So nice to see her taking over Frodo so quickly!

Author Reply: Thank you! I had such a joyous time giving Frodo a mischievous and loving pup.

Young Frodo got to meet an Elf! The culture shock between Elf and Hobbit was funny and heart-warming (the Elf's befuddlement at the hobbits packing him goodies and insisting he sleep in Bag End in a bed) and the hobbits shock that the Elf would even consider not doing so! Scamp was endearing, "warm and fussy " as you intended, but the best part was seeing the glimpse of homelife at Bag End. And the friendship between the Bagginses and Estel and Sam and his family. And the hints of grand history, the glories of a lost and forgotten age. There were too many favorite parts - I can't list them all!

Author Reply: It's amazing how long I was thinking about this story before actually finding time to write it. It grew and evolved into something I never even imagined, at the beginning. Thank you so much for your lovely words.

It is such a joy to re-read this story. My favorite part of this whole chapter was the conversation between Frodo and Sam about Estel's cloak, and washing it. "He's bound to suspect something" if it's clean! What a clever and wry comment and I could just see movie!Aragorn grimacing at this poke at his made-much of apparent fondness for dirt...

Finally, finally catching up on this lovely story... I think this is my favorite part so far. No one writes hobbity interaction with each other and with Big Folk, like you do. The affection and happiness of this household and this time is a tangible thing, like a sheepdown blanket. There were so many things I liked - Sam's reaction to the young master working in the garden (and Sam's 'voice' was delightful), that Sam greeted the horse before its rider, and Estel stroking the hair back from an exhausted child-Frodo's face as he slept. Awwwww...

Alas, I fear I am a bit Gollum-ish in my fondness for Frodo, but the story is quite entertaining all the same and nicely written, as I would expect from a story from you. :-)

Author Reply: That's all right, Karri, I'll love Frodo enough for both of us! Thank you so much for reading and commenting.

Awww! That was unbelievably cute! I'm not usually one to go in for the sappy kind of fics, but this series has me hooked. Sometimes you just need a bit of light-hearted fluff, right? And this sates my appetite for it. Thanks for some wonderfully smushy scenes!

More in context with the story, I loved the incorporation of Lindon (when do we ever hear of Aragorn travelling West?) and of Luthien and Beren - a truly remarkable and original plot twist. Kudos to you!

Author Reply: Thank you! Even the fluffiest, smushiest stories can still have the magic of past Ages woven into them. I'm so glad you enjoyed it!

A wonderful, tender tale, full of love. I shall have to read it through again now that it is all here. I'm in need of such moments. Your writing is magic! Thank You!

Author Reply: Thank you, Pearl. I don't know where this little tale (tail?) came from, but I'm glad it did.

what a wonderful story from beginning to end. loved it all. The part at the end about Estel's cloak, was very good. I liked the story he made up about the trolls, make a real Baggins out of him yet. looking forward to more

Author Reply: Thanks, grumpy! Yes, there's always a chance that Estel can become an official Baggins... someday.

Now I can't wait to get home and see my Scamp! What a lovely, hobbity conclusion to a fun fic. I loved the way the Gaffer tried to appear nonchalant about Scamp even though he loves her to death, I adored Frodo and Bilbo's farewell to Estel but most of all I can't get enough of the fact that there really are gold and jools buried in the Hill at Bag End. All those rumors were right after all! Who'd have thunk it;-). Great job, hon.

Author Reply: Thank you! Hee hee -- that Gaffer... tough as tree roots on the outside, but such a softie on the inside. And wouldn't we all love to get just one look at all the "jools"? Sigh.
