He did have some problems with pocket handkerchiefs in thos days! Heh!
Author Reply: He certainly did! And after his mother kept reminding him, too, all those growing-up years. "Do you have a clean pocket-handkerchief?"

Oh, this is just adorable! *grin* I love the whole thing from top to bottom!
And "susurrus" is one of my favorite words.
Author Reply: Thank you! That word has fascinated me since I first stumbled across it.
I love the idea of Goldi as Farry's "faithful Sam"...

What a delight to read this morning! Ah, yes, children intent on reliving the adventures they've heard of! And I can SO see this! Lovely! Excellent!

Oh, this is just a lovely portrait of young ones of age 6 and 7, with urges to bounce and instant let's pretend! But not any lass and lad ages 6 and 7 - each of these hobbits has lived this particular story from their births, and so falling into their proper roles needs very little prompting. I'm wondering if this is one of the first times they would have played alone together, without the distracting presence of Merry and Pip (a powerful distraction they could be, I'm sure)? The start of shared experience, and we know where it leads eventually. You definitely see the outlines of the hobbits they will become when grown in Farry's solemnity and Goldi's defiant strength. By the way, I'm proud of Farry for being perfectly willing to enter into playing the story with a GIRL, as not all lads his age would. And the thought of the minders as Orcs brings a chuckle. Nice to see a new bit of story!
Author Reply: Thank you! I love to see little ones pretending -- it is fun to see how they incorporate a story and make it their own. Such enthusiasm, and you know that they are seeing so clearly what they're imagining.
Sorry for the belated reply, I haven't had much computer time to speak of over the past months.

Very sweet, very loving, and very Tookish.
In the version I read, it was more than G. I have a very good imagination and you skillfully led me in the right direction. Thank you!
Author Reply: Oh, my! I just now saw this. So sorry for the *very* belated reply!
(and hoping you are well, and your hobbits, too)

I adored this! I love the way the two parrot the lines that were once said but Frodo and Sam and I think Goldie is just darling! She's off for adventure and nothing is going to stop her. It was very good to find something new by you here on SOA. I was just over here looking and expecting to find very little posted but there you were! Thank you for making my morning with this little story.
Author Reply: Goldi has always been one to fling herself headlong into adventure, at least in my imagination.
I'm very glad to hear that you enjoyed this. You're very welcome.

Don't know if I reviewed this before but just came across it again looking for something completely different and what a delightful little story, making my kinship with Frodo all the stronger because I hate parties too and would much rather stay at home reading too! Love also Bilbo using the feather duster as a substitute for Sting and how he was able to get his heartson to dance properly at last. If he dances anything like he does in Larner's stories, then the lasses will go wild!
I have yet to finish Small and Passing Thing, but one day, one day!!
Namarie, God bless, Antane :)
Author Reply: Much belated thanks for your stopping by and taking time to leave a good word!

That was so cute. I'm grinning from ear to ear.
I have a very good imagination, and that made it all the more fun.
I envy Diamond that picnic.:)
Author Reply: What fun!

Allow me to explain the process of discovery of this fic.
1). C. visits SoA. Reads main summary, in particular the in response to a challenge by Golden bit. Thinks: "Really?", having followed the GFIC comm threads enough to know exactly what sort of bunny L. came up with.
2). C. clicks on fic, and reads the cast of characters. "Really?" turns into "Really!", especially when she reads the rating caveat.
3). C. reads fic and enjoys*. Hypothesis is proven.
4). C. clicks and reads comments because she is a weird person, and realizes that this was not the initial title of the piece. Knowing the Bunny that Started It All, she hypothesizes the original title of the fic and collapses in a fit of giggles.
5). C. recovers and checks the GFIC comm, scrolling down far enough to discover the fic's original title. Hypothesis proven.
In other words, the very fact that you wrote this was almost, almost as entertaining as the fic itself!
*Really, this was a lovely use of that crazy challenge, the demands for which I have a feeling will be reiterated since they worked out so well. AND you kept it G, which is pretty darn amazing. I love implications.
And of course Diamond suits Pippin perfectly if she can manage to pull this off (which she has!).
Author Reply: LOL! Really, your comments are quite as amusing as the story, if not more! Such a lovely treat to go with my afternoon tea.
And having ducked back into the GFIC comm, I see you're something of an instigator yourself. A Golden story without Pippin!
(Masterful insult, by the way. Reminds me of Klinger and his "if I had a dog as ugly as you I'd shave his [behind] and teach him to walk backwards"... only LOTR-ier. Mind if I use it sometime, if I can fit it in somewhere? Sounds like something a Man of Gondor would say to another Man of Gondor, or perhaps a Rider of Rohan.)
