For the Love of the Lord of the White Tree  by Legolass 21 Review(s)

Legolass,

Quite a lot of people read without leaving a review, even though writers tend to need the reassurances.

It's a lovely story, indeed, but if you enjoy writing enough to be posting around, then you should continue, no matter the amount of review. It's your story. Besides, you made it pass Stories of Arda. They've decided you can post here, that you made the cut, so what with the inferiority complex?

I know the number of reviews you get here are smaller than on the other site, but some people read on only here, simply because most fic here are good. The benefits of a closed site.

I sincerely hope you are not withdrawing the story. I love it very much. I am not good at describing specific points that I love, but other reviewers do that. And please don't be offended if I immediately dissappeared again - I normally simply lurk.

Sheera, thank you very much for leaving this note.

I don't feel any 'inferiority' over this story, really, and of course I enjoy writing it, but I just needed to know whether there were enough people following the story to warrant my continuing to post it here at SOA, or whether I should just keep it to the other site. This is a new experience because - unlike publishing whole stories in hard copy, where it's DONE and you can't do a thing about it if no one buys the book - writers here actually have a choice of continuing to develop the story or not, so for me, I simply needed to know whether I am posting for enough of an audience. Merely needed the one line to say: 'Hey, I didn;t hit this story by mistake - I'm actually reading it.' :-) No compliments needed because the fact you are actually following the story is validation enough for me.

So - thank you for 'de-lurking' this once, I appreciate it. And yes, I will continue to post it here.

please please please please please please please please keep writing, this story is AWESOME. just as an FYI, some people just read and don't review (like me, until now), so don't think that just a few reviews is bad, because i think its wonderful!!!! i check for updates every day, waiting for the next chapter, and i love how you are able to make up an entire plot that is still loyal to what happens in LOTR (nobody has croaked off yet that is supposed to live, Legolas is lord over Ithilien like Tolkien says he is, Aragorn possesses great healing powers, etc. etc.) PLEASE, if you have any tips whatsoever in posting or stuff, TELL ME!!!! i've never posted a story before, but i've got some ideas that i'm putting into writing at the moment, so any tips, warnings, whatever would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!! ~ArcherGal2932

As for keeping to what Tolkien intended - remember this is my first fanfic, so you're getting suggestions from a newbie, lol, but for what it's worth: I suggest you develop your plot first, and decide what each character is going to do - then ask yourself if that is what Tolkien's characters would do. That takes care of the big picture, but this exercise has to go on throughout the writing. It just so happens that I can keep referring to things that happened before because that's what I intended - a link between the past and the present. But I think you can write a quite a good tale without that direct link as well. For me, the events may be different but the characters must stay consistent.

Finally, though, I must say that although some fanfic stories are superb, none can be perfect, so - be like me - take a chance. And let it be a passionate effort, for that is what drives me. :-) Good luck, and I hope you will let me know when you finally post.

And yes, I will continue to write and post mine. Thank you.

Ah! You are sooooo forbidden of withdrawing this story! Don't even think about that... As for the number of reviews, it's quite normal, don't worry about it. People are just a bit lazy to write... I should know, I'm one of them :D
As for the story, you're doing great, so, no second thoughts now :)

Ophium, you have given me great support. And now that I know I have at least 14 or 15 readers following the story :-) - that's all I need to continue to post here; so, no second thoughts. Thank you for sticking with me.

I like it that you gave Aragorn a quiet interval to give in to his grief and fear for Legolas. It semmed a genuine moment. The awakening was also very nicely done, comparing the flood waters with the overwhelming effect of the poison on Legolas. I hope you continue the story. It's a good adventure with well-written action, your characterizations are vivid, even in the minor characters, and you have covered the emotions of the characters all along the way. You have created some very moving moments, in my humble opinion. All that together makes for a very addictive story. Please continue to post! ~TF

TF - thank you for the support you have given me. I appreciate it. Speaking of moving moments... have I said that these two have not even reconciled yet? Let the next chapter speak for itself. :-)
