Stone of Erebor  by Primsong 95 Review(s)

Holebit! My, but nothing is going according to plan. I was very impressed, Bilbo is crafty - spoken with the Gaffer! Knows many kings... I was just as bewildered at his titles as was Urd. I like the references back to Smaug and Bilbo's adventure with him.
My heart was in my throat as he fled down the halls from Dain. And now he is lost? No Gollums to show him the way out this time?

There was so much that I liked about this chapter, I cannot put it all into words. Mostly, I was *very* happy for Bilbo to have finally talked with Gimli! What an exciting place the forges sound. You show so well the sounds of tools and singing, the colors, the heat, Bilbo's perplexity at so many things with no name... I felt as awed. I like that Gandalf was mentioned. Poor Bilbo, feeling like an idiot. : )
"ever at your service, and your families'" - now that’s a premonition... loved it!
So the suspects have been narrowed down to Urd; he doesn't sound like a pleasant fellow; I hope that they can investigate the jewels without getting into trouble...

Oh, yeah! Gimli, Gimli! I hope for much more of him. Much more.
At least they have some leads. But what is so bad about Urd? I suppose I'll find out soon enough. I like the way Dwalin keeps taking charge, along with Gloin's support.
I cannot wait to see the mysterious forges.

I guess notifying Dain would be bad. But how ever can they solve this mystery?
I love that Gimli is mentioned! From they way Gloin talks, the forges must be all-consuming on Dwarves, to not have time for visiting or coming home to bed. (Well, that might be expected).
I hope that Bilbo can keep his promise...

I liked the Dwarves’ repartee. Bilbo's curiosity is seriously going to get the better of him: sneaking looks into the door's crack and the tomb door's opening. You know Thorin was my favorite and I felt rather sad as they came in.
But, no, no... not the Arkenstone! I am in suspense till my next read...

I am so glad to have the rest of the Company come! I was wondering when Bilbo would ask of Oin, Ori, and Balin, but it came as uncomfortable, nonetheless, when he did. Bombur never fails to amuse me. So Bombur's grown since Gloin saw him? Just how long had it been since Gloin saw him... ?
"uncommonly neighborly or a bit morbid." - now that is quite an observation. Oh my, I am not sure what to expect when they get to Thorin's tomb.

I wanted to clap my hands in delight at the reunion! Dain is quite the king. But gasp! Accusing him of being a common thief. Bilbo stood up for himself well and slyly. (Good for him). I like the constant references to Dwarven terms like “Wash the dust from your beard”. Erebor sounds so beautifu;l I cannot wait to hear more of it.
This is defiantly going on my favorites. : )

Wonderful! Bilbo is marvelously in character. "The Hobbit" is definitely my favorite of Tolkien works– at least because I was introduced to it in my formable years. I am enjoying Bombur’s Diet so much, and am glad to say I am enjoying this as well. The regions of Dale and Erebor are too little treated. Your descriptions of it are so crisp and clear! Very melancholy as Bilbo remembers about Thorin (that really almost had me sobbing) and the way the Mountain was.
I am happy to see there are 24 more chapters to go!

Ah, as marvelous as your tales usually are. Dear Bilbo--now thought to be a jewel expert! And he does know how to use Dwarf egos now, doesn't he?

So glad all is well and back where and how it's intended to be, and that Dim is well and unharmed.

So wonderful a tale, as always!

Between Hobbit and Dwarf tendencies, this chapter is just a lovely giggle. And the assurance the matter is over and done with in writing is just the right touch.
