I really, really like Fellowship stories. Now can't wait till the next part!

Interesting! An illusion of Gandalf? Or was he perhaps seeing Saruman there? Saruman is definitely on the prowl at this time and still hoping to get his hands on the Ring...

I can hear spooky music again! I love the way that the ring resonds to the heat of the fire. But best of all was Pippin and Merry in the boat. Pippin expecting to have been sent home! Keep it coming!

That's definitely the work of Saruman! That malicious wizard! The fellowship should be wary indeed, for an evil wizard who controls the forces of nature is a powerful enemy. Poor Frodo, I would have wished him, that he'd really found Gandalf!

*hums happily* Angst. Frodo Angstish. Neee hee hee hee. Another lovely chapter! Merry continued, “Really, Pip what did you do all that time in Rivendell? There were maps all over the place.” “I didn’t think they’d let me come, you know,” said Pippin quietly. “Even if they let you accompany Frodo, I figured they’d bundle me up right quick and ship me home. Just didn’t seem to be any need to study maps and things.” Merry sat up, taken by Pippin’s serious tone. “Are you still glad Elrond let you come?” ”Yes,” said Pippin firmly. He looked up at the darkening sky and desolate lands about them. “Well, most of the time.” I love Merry being the older cousin. I notice in fanfiction that Sam is mostly the protector of Frodo, but Merry takes it on too when he is with Frodo. In TTT and RotK he isn't with Frodo so you normally notice Sam's devotion, but I think all the Hobbits have that for Frodo. He's just the kind of Hobbit you want to protect. ^^ "We cannot go any further," said Merry to Strider, "I am afraid this has been too much for Frodo. I am dreadfully anxious about him. What are we to do? Do you think they will be able to cure him in Rivendell, if we ever get there?" - FotR

Straight into the angst. Just as I like it. ;) *Bangs knife and fork on table.* "More!"

Whoa! Taking strong hold on self to preclude running to ffnet to read more... Of course it had to be Saruman, and so appropriate, that he had some control over weather. Have seen lightning strike less than 50 yards away. It is quite a sight and sensation... No ordinary fire, and Frodo is still in danger, and the rain has started to fall... Am anxious to find out what happens next.

Yay, danger quotient rising! *composes self* I mean, oh, dear, what a terrible thing to happen! *cackles* Was that lightning natural? And the tricksy smoke, hmm, they were lucky this time, but they'd better watch out (hooray!). Is it wrong that I just love Aragorn being strangely tired after dashing through the smoke with Frodo on his back? *composes self once again* Ahem.

Ooh, how interesting! The fire sequence was so terrifying and I suspect Frodo will need lots of comfort after that. And you're very right, I'm looking forward to the Pippin h/c :D

Eeee! Re-reading this story is just like catching up with an old friend you haven't seen in a long time. I'm tempted to go back to my own copy and read further along, but I think I'll wait for you to post the next chapter instead. :D
