So very apt, as without the Hobbits in their Orc rags there would be no coronation.Very touching.

Author Reply: Thank you, Linda. I love imagining scenes like this one.

Oh, how wonderful! I have their clothing in the Hall of Memorial in crystal cases; but to keep the Winged Crown on the orc rags--how marvelous an idea, indeed remembering the sacrifice even of identity in the end!

Author Reply: Oh, thank you so much. Oooh, I like how you word that -- "the sacrifice even of identity". Indeed, it should never be forgotten.

Ah Shirebound, this was beautiful, and just what I needed today. Such a wonderful idea, to show everyone that the crown of Gondor rests upon the orc rags of the two who saved the world.

Thank you!

Author Reply: Thank you, BB. Hobbits must be honored! *looks insistent and stern*

Absolutely wonderful! Freedom is never free, this we know. A perfect canon Aragorn moment. TBC... really? please!

Author Reply: Thank you, demeter! I don't know if this particular scene will have a continuation (at the moment), but hopefully the teensy (unrelated) scenes to come will be enjoyable.

“As long as Gondor stands... as long as the West endures... you will never be forgotten, my friends.”

That was beautiful, Shirebound!
I'm quite sure you know that beautiful song the minstrel sang in Dreamflower's "Chance Encounter" about the hobbits' part in the quest: "Perhaps it was to humble us ...". And that's what Aragorn had in mind by displaying the crown on the orc rags, I think.

Thank you!

Author Reply: Thank *you*, Andrea. Yes, it never hurts to have a visual reminder of how a folk so small accomplished something so large.

Okay, number me with the sniffly crowd. Just lovely. :)

Author Reply: I'm sorry about the sniffles! Hobbit-honoring always does that to me, too.

Innocence lost...very poignant. The Orc rags will serve well to aid the Kings in always remembering the sacrifices made by one and all. Very beautiful.

Pippinfan

Author Reply: Thank you, Pippinfan. It might take such humble rags to remind future kings of what was sacrificed.
