My Sword Sings - Book One - 'My Sword' Series  by Agape4Gondor 72 Review(s)

Indis is one tough lady - it'll be interesting to see how the nobles of Gondor react to her taking over.

Author Reply: Hi, SS - hey, if it came down to a showdown between my character and yours - I'd have to put my money on yours! She is one tough cookie whom I grately admire...

But Indis, in her own way, is great too - she is tough and will only get tougher.

An interesting premise, and a good start - and I'll be reading more!

Indis has her work cut out for her - Gondor is in shock at the deaths of two Stewards within weeks of each other, and the new Steward is a shattered six-year-old boy. Faramir's plight is agonizing here, he has tried to be brave, but he is a young child who has lost his closest kin - mother, father and brother - and been subjected to torture and terror; and it is too much for him. What he really needed was several days or weeks of recovery before facing the trauma of Boromir's funeral, and he couldn't get it.

And nasty Saruman and Galmod are behind it all? It's reasonable to assume that Wormtongue's father was as susceptible to treachery as was Grima...

The story has been suspenseful and entertaining. I hope to see the sequel soon!

Author Reply: Hurin is the same as the warden of the keys - still a young Captain here!

And as I said below, I did not expect, nor wanted, to have what happened to Boromir happen. The muse must hate me.....

The first chapter of the sequel will be posted as soon as I get over this blasted bronchitis! And we have some new people coming into the story - friends of the future... and of the past.

Thanks so much for reading and commenting - your support has been much appreciated!

And tragedy strikes even in the hour of victory. I wonder if Indis will blame herself for Boromir's death, though she probably will be too busy to think much about it for awhile.

Poor Grimbold.

Is Captain Hurin the same Hurin of the Keys seen in ROTK (the book)? I always thought he might be a distant relative of Denethor.

Amandil was stupid to encourage his men to kill Boromir; that would only infuriate the rest of Gondor and still leave an heir to the Stewardship alive. He'd have done better to promise mithril for Indis' death, or even Imrahil's.

Amandil got off too easy; he should have had weeks of incarceration, followed by a quick trial and then a shameful public execution.

Poor little Faramir; desperately anticipating being with his brother again, only to see him fallen. And Boromir...sob.

Poor Boromir; he's been very strong and courageous, but he's still a child who has been through a lot of pain and privation and fear a short time.

At least Faramir gets to meet up with his uncle again. Though I doubt that even Numenorean genes would enable a kid with a recently sprained ankle to actually run anywhere.

Good chapter, the suspense and danger intensify.

Author Reply: Thanks, Raksha, for noticing that - I've changed it to Faramir hobbled forward.

*giggles* though those Numenorean genes are pretty potent!!!

And Boromir - still trying to be brave. The excitement of being home, in Minas Tirith, overwhelmed him, I think. Trying desperately to be obedient, he cannot, in the end.

And so, Galmod father to Grima served the White Wizard before his son was to do so. How is it I am not surprised/

And young as he was Faramir was given the Rod after all, and the investigations begun.

Horrid idea, the death of Denethor so long ago followed by that of Boromir. Leaves a great deal of room for politicking and maneuvering in the coming years. Hopefully Mithrandir would have remained welcome all during that time, however.

Author Reply: It seemed only logical, to me, that treachery was begun as soon as Saruman started turning towards evil. Soon after this, he is ensnared by Sauron through the Palantir. Did his fall cause him to be susceptible?

As for Boromir - Never had I thought we would lose him. Never - he just suddenly screamed, picked up the sword, and was in harm's way.

I even wrote and called a couple 'medical' people to see if there was anyway that I could save him, but there wasn't. Cut too close to the carotid and a few other vital arteries. I cried.

Well - Faramir needs healing, desperately. I hope it comes quickly to the poor little one. *weeps*

Thank you for your support all this time. I most appreciate it!

I am in grief, Agape, for this apparent double loss. I hope they find the one who sponsored this, and it would be wonderful (if it is indeed Saruman) to make him pay NOW.

Author Reply: Larner - forgive my lateness in the reply.

I went around the house for days after writing these last two chapters... my heart was broken. I had not meant for this to happen. Not in the least, but Boromir did not duck. I could not help him.

Then a nurse friend of mine told me the wound was too grievous for repair...

There is a light at the end....(I hope)

Oh, Boromir! Must your brother indeed follow his father as Steward, but at such cost?

Author Reply: There is still hope - Aragorn says.... but I wonder.

The Stewards have always paid a high price for something that doesn't carry any benefits but sitting at the foot of a throne that was thrown away by a king whose pride mattered more to him than his people or his kingdom.

And they said Denethor was proud!!!

Hooray! Healing for the city and realm is come, with scouring swords for the infection and doughty Men to find out who is ultimately behind the treachery.

Author Reply: Don't I wish!
