Laire's Assorted Drabbles and Ficlets  by Aelaer 32 Review(s)

“You took it when you went out to find Frodo,” Erestor pointed out. “That was hardly a celebratory errand.”

“I did it so Aragorn would recognize me!”

That's a great explanation! I never thought of that before.

A delightful little story. :)

Best. Exploration*. Ever.

*Exploration of small facts only obliquely mentioned by Tolkien but also rather confusing when you actually think about it. But if I'd said that above, I wouldn't have gotten the nice flow of "three one word sentences."

Galadriel saw this and meddled. Because she's Galadriel.

And, in this case, meddling was good. I would love to see a picture of this troth-taking.

Brilliant. I never really thought to question bells on an elvish horse. Seemed appropriate somehow but..yep...bells vs the Nazgul seems to be giving away a large advantage of stealth!

A sweet arrival!

*giggle* I can only sympatize with Sam, but he brougt it on himself and he knows it. ;)

Poor Sam.

And since hobbits aren't adult until 33, he actually has the likelihood of having all 13 at home, aged between infancy and mid-tweens.

Whereas men, who send their kids off to labour and battle by 18, would have lost the first half-dozen by the time the last few arrived. Earlier, probably, if the girls went off into service at 12-14, as girls tended to do up to the First World War.

At last - a downside to being a hobbit! (Apart from the hairy feet. Just can't love hairy feet.)

Ah--the "It wasn't me who did it!" arguments. Yes, indeed--an excellent reason not to have thirteen children! Heh!

shireboundReviewed Chapter: 2 on 1/23/2007
Adorable! Poor Sam... that really *is* a lot of children, isn't it? :D

Sam sighed; now knew why no other hobbit had 13 children.

LOL. That's what we call being a slow learner :-)
