Eeeee, I'm enjoying this so much, El!

Seraphine is so delightful and charming, and her interactions with the royal kids delightful. Love Eldarion sending the recipe to Sam: it's great to see the Fellowship is still close. :)

Author Reply: Good, I'm glad you like it!

I think the Fellowship must be like having a lot of uncles spread out all over Arda, for the kids. And I'll bet that the rest of them have no problem with corrupting Aragorn's kids thoroughly. :)

I keep meaning to leave a review to this, but keep forgetting to. Not this time. :oD

This is such a delightful little story. Elda's original tutor reminds me of some of the teachers I had once upon a time. The ones that are structured and regimented make for the worst. They end up killing the desire to learn and make it a chore. Not something to be enjoyed. Something your Haradric Princess has not forgotten at all and I adore. Everyone should have a teacher like that.

Loved how Elda got Miriel down to the Lady's House. Tricksy indeed. It runs in the family after all. ;o)

Looking forward very much to the next chapter in this lovely story. :o)

Author Reply: Thank you! The best teachers I had during the mandatory school years were the ones who made their subject interesting. If you take all the fun out of learning, there is no point to it.

I'm glad you like the story!

There's something so lovely about the idea of Eldarion sending Sam recipes! This is just delightful, and I feel as if I'm 'seeing' a new culture in the same way the children are.

Author Reply: Yeah, I have a great line somewhere about hobbits that I need to incorporate. I like that the Fellowship stuck together.

I am really enjoying this Elendiari. Unfortunately RL is keeping me from reviewing at present.

Author Reply: No worries, I completely understand. :) Thanks for reading!

Truly enlightened parents as well as teacher. A most proper handling of the affair, I must say.

Author Reply: Oh, good! I am really hoping that this all comes off as believable.

Yes, a lovely lesson indeed, as well as a useful skill for anyone to know.

One correction--his interest was piqued, not peaked. One of the more common homonym mistakes.

Author Reply: Oik, yeah, I type too fast for my own good. Thanks for pointing that out!

Oh, I love it! Diana Wynn Jones meets Tolkien! Lovely!

And I agree with Aragorn and Arwen--Eldarion needs his imagination fed as well as his love of learning facts.

Author Reply: I love Diana Wynne Jones. Tolkien was one of her professors, and she makes a mention of LOTR in each of her books, so I thought it fitting to stick her in somewhere. I'm glad you like it!

I love what you've written of this story so far. Aragorn strikes me as the type of leader we could use today - one who is open to new ideas, rather than being too attached to the old way of doing things. He spent a great deal of time traveling around Middle Earth, and his son seems to have inherited some of that innate desire to learn. It speaks well of the ruler he'll become when it's time for Aragorn to step down from the throne.

I wonder how long it will take Eldarion to realize he has an 'official' tutor - somehow I don't think they'll be able to fool him for long.

Thanks for a great tale thus far - looking forward to reading more!

YES. I also imagine that the upper classes of Gondor are steeped in ancient tradition (and I think pre-Revolution Versailles when I think of Gondor), and that he has to be really open in order to get things done.

I don't think Eldarion will be fooled for long, though I doubt he'll say anything. :)

Thanks for reading!

Arwen's evaluation of Seraphine is quite astute. I like the plan they've made between them--a few months of "trial" before she becomes "official" will be good. Eldarion will be eager to have her teach officially by the time that comes about.

Author Reply: Yes, I think that keeping him in suspense about his future tutor will heighten his like of the princess's lessons, so that in the end he'll probably request her.

Needless to say, as a calligrapher, I loved the account of the ink making. I especially liked that Aragorn couldn't wait to try it out! LOL! Just like a proud Daddy!

And I think that the princess is going to make a wonderful tutor!

Author Reply: I found the lesson on some college site, and I'm so glad I did. I hadn't realized that ink making was so easy!
