The Blessing  by Pearl Took 331 Review(s)

I know you hinted as to what you wanted to convey in this tale, but...I am still utterly astounded. LOL, and I'm glad I don't know the half of it! As you know, I love the element of surprise -- and I am surprised, but then again, writing is your natural gift. :-) This story is absolutely brilliant, Pearl. I can't even pinpoint any exact part that I liked the best because I'm loving ALL of it.

Poor Merry - having to be the one to receive so much bad news while he's still healing himself. Hmmm...I wonder just how long it will take for Aragorn's last bit of information to come out into the open... Parsow's character is growing by leaps and bounds - I really like him.

This is one of the best Cormallen fics I've read so far, and I know that there is so much more yet to come! *Eeally* looking forward to more!!

PF

Author Reply: Thank you, m'dear!

I hope it won't disappoint as time goes on.

Aragorn's info will come in it's time.

I'm soooo glad you like Parsow :-)

I like your "Eeally" looks like my typos :-)

I'm here! Last week was...well, I just thank God that it is now *last* week. :-P

At the challenges, I read where Aragorn whispers the blessing to Pip, but only today did I stop to think about the kindness of such a gesture that it was - and that it is a blessing given to each first-born son. That is so lovely!

Off I go to read more!

PF

Author Reply: Aw, bless your heart!

Yes, it will prove to be quite the kindness. I'm so glad you liked it :-)

I do like Parsow! He is definitely making a place for himself among the great!

But Aragorn's information! And he's not telling everything - healers never do. Minimum information you can get away with ...

Strider looked deep into Merry’s eyes. There was more. A fear that niggled at his thoughts. Did Merry really need to know when there was a fair chance that nothing would come of it? And yet, who better to watch for any symptoms?

Could be a mistake, Strider! (Although I daresay Parsow will pick up on anything. Hopefully. He has a trained eye - but, when it comes to Pippin, Merry has a very, very honed sense of anything being out of place.)

Author Reply: Thank you, my dear!

I'm so glad you like Parsow :-)

It's situations like this that I have always felt must be hard on healers/doctors. Do I say what might be or only what I know is? If I say what might be, will they begin to see it, even if it isn't there?

We'll just have to see how it goes . . .

Merry seems fragile like an egg at the moment. Tough and resilient in some ways, but he would be easily shattered.

And if he's been shown all the positives first, he must suspect that there is a very big piece of bad news about to land on him.

Author Reply: Hi Bodkin :-)

Though Pippin is the eventual focus of the story, I know all four of the hobbits would be fragile at this point for various reasons and I don't want to light any of them. Glad to see you here :-)

Oh dear! What was it that Strider did not say?
I'm really worried about that! Well, I don't expect an immediate answer, of course ;-)

And Parsow is back! I really like your OC!

Thanks to you and to Golden for yet another wonderful story!

Author Reply: And thank you for reading, Andrea :-)

Everyone will find out eventually what isn't getting said.

I'm glad you're happy to see Parsow.

So, nerve damage is indeed possible. And Aragorn is right--this is more than enough to be getting on with right now.

Poor Hobbit--Pippin is going to be in for a time of it.

Author Reply: Yes, it is. They all will have a lot to handle soon.

Glad to see you Larner!

A blessing needed. Spinal cord damage?

Author Reply: Hi Larner!

Well . . .
You'll soon see ;-)

“Sleep well now and awake when you will. You have no duty to attend other than the welfare of your friends.”

What a wonderful beginning, Pearl and Golden! I'm certain that Merry (and Sam as well) will be the best medicine Frodo and Pippin could ever have... along with a kind yet determined healer-King, and a certain compassionate apprentice.

Author Reply: Thank you, shirebound! We're hoping so. Rough times are ahead and we're all eager to see how our hobbits handle them.

Oh, this is continuing wonderfully.

Pippin's difficulties are very different than those imagined by most authors. I see Golden's touch, I do believe.

Now, I want to know what strider isn't telling Merry.

Now I'm going to be franticly checking SOA for updates. I'm completely hooked.

Author Reply: Mwahahaha! That is part of my evil plan! Somethings are more interesting if they are secrets to be discovered, I think.

Yes, Golden's touches are good ones, she is great to work with :-)

I don't know if I'll be able to produce new chapters fast enough!

Thank you so very much, dear Garnet :-)

For all the skill Aragorn possesses as a healer, there are some things even he can't do. It must have pained him greatly to have to tell Merry that Pippin might never be the same again. I'm curious as to what it was that Aragorn left out of his description of Pippin's injuries - he obviously found something else wrong, but is reluctant to tell Merry.

Author Reply: That will remain quiet for a while yet, but all will eventually be revealed.

Life often has difficulties that never go away and that is what Golden and I wanted to explore.

Thank you, Telpethoron!
