This may be the calm before the storm but it was a calm with big thunderclouds in the sky. The story about the prince was amusing. And I still feel badly about Bereth.

Author Reply: I'm glad you liked the story. It was mostly 'true' but they each had different recollections of what happened! Poor Bereth. There's more angst to come on his part, even though he's well out of it.

Jay - are you going to torture them all the way home? Bereth dead, Elrohir lost and injured; now Elladan too? Is this some new poison?

And can we trust you to leave poor Legolas alone? I thought not.... *grin* I can however they return to Imladris in all due haste and Glorfindel rides out to meet them. No one messes with the balrog-slayer.

Author Reply: There won't be *that* much torture on the way home (After they get home, that's a different matter ...) Lots of angst to come, but not much Glorfindel. Sorry :(

WOOHOO! Another spiffariffic chapter :: sighs in happiness:: my world is now complete, until you update again of course. Another brilliant chapter, I'm REALLY enjoying this fic. More twin angst!

Jules

Author Reply: And there's lots more angst to come - both with the twins, and with Elrond and Celebrian. And I *love* Rivendell Burning!! Even more angst!

oh dear. :-(
I should have known something bad would happen just by the chapter title.

But before I wail about the bad, evil, worrying thing you've done to Elladan, I should talk about the good parts of the chapter. I hope that the outlaws our threesome killed were the same ones terrorizing Withypool. I like the people of that little village and want them to be left in peace. Yay that the extra horses got to stay with Dacy and her family! I liked the embellished bprince and princess story. Especially Elrohir's uncertainty (confusion??) as to whether or not "Princess" Arwen was beautiful. Just like a brother. LOL Loved Legolas' explanation as to why he felt he needed to protect her. Finally, Elrohir's reason as to why he didn't tell Dacy who the prince in the story was a gem. how could I shatter Dacy’s illusions? – that the wonderful prince in her story was just you, when you had just been fetching water from the well! "Just you" -- that still makes me laugh.

And now for that ending ..... *makes an angry face* >>:(

Here you go, setting us up for something bad still to happen to Elrohir ... and you turn the tables and partially paralyze Elladan! Bad author, bad, bad author! Bad ... mean ... wicked author. I wasn't expecting that.

I hope you can update soon. I wanna know what happens!

Author Reply: I'm really glad that everyone liked the bedtime story - I wasn't sure about including it, as this story is mostly angst, and this was just a bit of fun. As to what's going to happen to the twins, you'll have to wait and see ...

How did I not read this earlier? Lots of twins angst, excellent! I was thinking all through that they'd find Elrohir alive, although there was a small part of me thinking you just might be that nasty...

I can guess that just possibly there's more to come (and not just because I read the other reviews).

Author Reply: Hi, Nic! Yes, there's more to come - this is just a small taste. There will be plenty of twins (and Elrond)angst soon.

Poor Elladan - does he really think he will be able to stop worrying and that he will soon be safely home? Danger and trouble seem to follow him... hopefully the dreams are done and he the meaning was just slighty different than what he thought...

Author Reply: Poor Elladan - their journey home won't be as incident-free as he expects. And the dreams are not finished either - but they do have a different meaning than he thinks ... ;-)

Elladan reflected that not the next day, but the day after, they would be safely back in Imladris, and he could finally relax. Why does the phrase "famous last words" come to mind when I read the last part of that sentence? Could it be because I don't entirely trust you to allow Elladan to relax in less than 2 days?

I'm glad Elrohir and the others weren't too seriously hurt. I laughed at how both twins admitted that they knew "the routine" about checking for head injuries and what concussions felt like.

You know what the big question in my mind is right now? Believe it or not, I want to know what's going to happen to all the horses! (I think Elrohir's young admirer in Withypool would like one.)

Another good chapter, Jay.

LKK

Author Reply: Famous last words? Yes indeed! I wasn't too sure what to do with the horses - thanks for your suggestion, I'm sure Dacy would love one!

Hmm. Something tells me that the journey back to Imladris won’t be quite as easy as Elladan thinks it’ll be... Hasn’t he at least learned that by now?!

The fight scene was wonderfully written – very vivid. But what were the men thinking, taking on three elves?!

I love cranky Elrohir. He’s really been through the wringer. He’s lucky he’s with two people who care about him so much, although I can see how he wouldn’t appreciate all their “fussing”!

It’s interesting to see Elladan battle with himself about what the visions mean and whether or not he should tell his brother. It’s a heavy burden to bear alone but then, if they are that vague he’d probably just succeed in frightening Elrohir. But they have to mean something, don’t they...?!;)

Author Reply: Yes, poor Elladan has a rude awakening coming. His visions are not over yet. As for the men, they thought they would have no problems - twelve against three would seem like very good odds to them. Their only previous experience of ambushing an elf was Bereth, who was no great shakes as a warrior.

Well, if I were them, I wouldn't relax just yet. Jay undoubtedly has plans for you, sweethearts.

Nice use of detail to create a sense of the muddy setting and the dangerous situation. I was very relieved that none of them was seriously hurt. The men were fools to mess with them.

Author Reply: Oh, yes, I do indeed have plans for them ;) just wait and see!

I had tears in my eyes for most of that – especially the conversation between the twins and when Elrohir realises what Elladan had gone through. *sniff* So sad.

And a twist in the tale! I presumed you were finishing up the story but yay, more excitement! Poor Elrohir, how much more does he have to go through?! *secretly hoping it’s loads*...:)

Author Reply: Oh, there's plenty of torment ahead, don't worry. Remember those dreams of Elladan's?
