This is a very interesting concept and nicely written. The characterisation and voice of the cat is excellent. I have enjoyed reading this and look forward to more. Author Reply: Thanks, Elea24 - it seems there might be a few more chapters. The cat hasn't specifically told me yet. You know cats; they like to be mysterious! Thanks for your kind words too!

I like the idea there are still cats with special powers and Numenorean lifespans in M-e! We could indeed learn a lot from cats! Author Reply: I think Denethor has a shirt that says.... Everything I Know I Learned From My Cat! Glad you like the idea, Linda!

As a hopelessly besotted cat-lover, this story is perfect for me. You have her 'essential catness'exactly. She seems facinated by Pippin - perhaps we can introduce her to my hobbity cat, Rufus, the real lord of Bag End! Author Reply: My daughter was terribly surprised that the cat spoke to me - she thought a dog would have been my preference... but I don't see Denethor with a dog... Say hello to Rufus for me... I doubt he and Alqualonde will ever meet.

Oh, I do like having this from the POV of the darling cat. Alqualondë is very entertaining and very clever I see. I like the observation that Alqualondë makes in this. Looking forward to more. Author Reply: Thanks GW - I'm looking forward to more too - this tale just jumped out at me :)

Oh, I just love cats and this is a very excellent introduction to what seems to be a very entertaining cat. Author Reply: Alqualonde sends his regards...

I love this cat! Wonderful voice and perspective. I hope this goes on and on--it's fascinating! Author Reply: Thanks ever so much, elanor. It seems it might be here for a bit, unless the cat takes off and leaves me... wanderlust...

What a fascinating notion! I can easily see Denethor as being a 'cat person,' and this is certainly a different perspective on the siege of Gondor! Author Reply: Thanks, SS - hopefully I won't have to bother you with 'anatomy' questions. ROTFL.... It will be very interesting to see what the cat sees.

but I did follow the Halfling. I wondered at his changed status. He was now a soldier in the Steward’s service. I now owed him my allegiance. How fascinating! I'm really enjoying this. Author Reply: Glad you're enjoying this and thanks for the review. I'm looking forward to what this cat will do now...

What a delightful idea! Being owned by four cats and visited by a fifth,I'd love to see Tolkien's great events through feline eyes. Trust Gandalf to acknowledge the cat! Author Reply: It's been a very long time since a cat and I shared a home... I grew up with glorious friendly ones... but my children are allergic and so cats are banned. My gosh - to this day I miss them....

I certainly hope that this isn't a single-shot. What a great idea, if possibly sub-canon, giving Denethor a cat. I would think that Denethor is a cat person; while I see Boromir as a dog person and Faramir as a cat and dog person (though the 'boys' wouldn't have time for pets at this stage in their lives). The characterisation of the cat seems spot-on; and I look forward to seeing more of the story. Loved the recognition of Shadowfax as a mearh! Author Reply: *giggles* Because of Alqualonde's 'royal' blood - as the dear cat states... it is easy to recognize another royal... Glad you enjoyed the idea. We'll see if the Muse has more...
