A most portentous summons, I must say.

And Frodo does have far greater reason to appreciate just what Olorin is going through than about anyone else about. He does have proper empathy, which helps.

At least Gandalf isn't alone, and has the best of companions and support for what is to come.

A most difficult future to face together.

Excellent--there is honesty between Frodo and Olorin, and Frodo at least sees that his friend requires rest so as to properly recover himself. And love the idea that Shadowfax is able to play with the Maia. And others are also keeping an eye on him, which he obviously needs.

A moment of sorrow, but at least Frodo is accepting the relief given him.

Nice introduction here to Olorin's neighbor. I like Olorin, but still don't feel he is truly Gandalf, somehow. And what a reaction to his adoration!

Hi! I haven't gotten a chance to reread this since you've put it up on the site (though I reread most of it early in the MEFA season), but I just wanted to let you know how happy I am that you've decided to post it (and your other pieces) on Stories of Arda. I hope that the community here can help you get over your writer's block. If there is anything I can do to assist, please let me know. ~Celeritas Author Reply: Thanks, Celeritas. The best assistance any author can get is to know their work is being read, and hopefully enjoyed, so I think you know what you can do!
