"the greatest means to spend one’s leisure" Well, my guess is that you are writing about books! They would fit in perfectly. Wonderfully done! Author Reply: Oh, indeed you have unraveled the clues! As a bibliophile of the first order, how could I write my riddle poem about anything else? Heh! Thanks so, Andrea!

I will have to start reading from the beginning as soon as I finish what I am reading now. I don't think I've read any of it before. I'm so glad to see postings from you. Nothing much seems to be happening since we lost Fiondel. (I still can't believe he's gone and hope the rest of his story will be posted.) I tried to email the moderators, but got no response. I would like to contribute to the cost of keeping SOA on line. Author Reply: It's a mixed series of stories, so I hope you enjoy them. We all miss Fiondil! I don't know if Alassiel and Ellie would need to finish his last story before posting it. I hope they have the chapters as he sent them archived. Author Reply: By the way--this is the third time you've replied to this chapter! Heh!

A great riddle which fits beautifully in Tolkien's world. Author Reply: Thank you!

That is a great idea! But Bilbo has missed an opportunity: He could have given a similar book to Frodo before he left to destroy the Ring. And he would have returned with many more autographs of very famous people :-) Author Reply: What a delightful thought, Andrea! It would do well on eBay, don't you think? Heh!

Awwww. I can just see this. I'm sure Elrond will be successful... and I should imagine Finrod would be as delighted with the acquaintance as Bilbo. Author Reply: Well, with "Elrond" as my prompt, knowing Bilbo wrote his poem about Earendil, this just seemed to fit! Heh! And I suspect you're right about Finrod.

Oh, I hope you write a sequel to this! That would cool if they could meet somehow. Namarie, God bless, Antane :) Author Reply: You never know--I just might one day!

So typical of Bilbo! Here he is, having passed up the old Took, and still he is making plans and looking gleefully forward! I can definitely see Bilbo badgering Elrond into trying to convince the luminaries of previous ages to come and write in his book. And then get said luminaries to get their famous friends and acquaintances to come, too! Author Reply: I was given Elrond as a person I had to include in my story in which some character Tolkien gave us did a typical fannish action, and suddenly I found myself imagining Bilbo standing in the Hall of Fire reciting "Earendil was a mariner that tarried...," and found that it had to be Bilbo, who'd basically done a fanfic honoring Earendil by writing his famous poem. So, this was born! Bilbo and his white autograph album in which he gathers stories of various people written by the individuals themselves just seemed natural to me! And I can see him convincing others to bring their friends as well. Thanks so, Sunny!

A great tribute to the Professor! Now I must go and go and keep building my own sub-created world. :) Namarie, God bless, Antane :) Author Reply: I know that as a child Tolkien wasn't likely to have access to a flashlight really, but I found that it insisted it be included, particularly as this was how I did a good deal of my nightly reading and writing as well.
