I still find this one of the cleverest ficlets I've read this year, and I still hold you deserve the MEFA I hope you win with it. Thanks so for yet another laugh!

Author Reply: Thank you again for nominating it. Being the Mouth of Sauron isn't all it's cracked up to be. :)

In many ways rather sad, and I can appreciate her feelings very much.

Again, we see the two sons displayed, each reacting in his own way to the same situation. And for each the river is different at the same moment. Love this.

Faramir wants to understand and to know why, while Boromir is merely practical, wanting already to be the man of action. How typical for each! And love Imrahil's reaction.

Author Reply: Thank you for the kind review! I think that, in his own way, each of those boys would have been quite a handful. Uncle Imrahil has his work cut out for him. :)

A most interesting take on that decision, that only the oldest were chosen for what was likely to turn out a last stand--and Forlong himself did not return to his home.

Author Reply: I always thought it was interesting that Forlong, not Denethor, determined how many troops his fief sent to Minas Tirith. Clearly, Denethor did not have the power to demand a certain number. (Which is surprising because, in medieval Europe, the rights and duties of lord and vassal were often spelled out in great detail.)
Thanks for commenting!

And if Thengel had chosen to not accept Thorongil, we wonder what other fates might have befallen so many. Nice thought provoker.

A fair flower, and a wonderful local name for them as well (although they are anathema here where I live, as they just take over, and leave in but the least amount of root or vine and they'll grow back twice as fast and choke out everything else). But to see growth about the dome, and such beautiful tribute to those memorials lost in the fire.

Ooh, and what a wonderful twist on our expectations! At least now her supper is come! Heh! Yecch!

Even though he's doing the best that he can, still there is only so much one can do, and he is but one man and not omnipotent. Alas for Denethor.

Author Reply: He must have been frantic with worry as he gathered the relief forces. Who knew what he would find when he arrived at Minas Tirith?
Thanks so much for commenting!
