A truly magnificent and chilling (pun intended) chapter. Wonderful writing of a ho9rrific scene!

Author Reply: Thanks so much for commenting! He must be quite a scary sight. Will require some cleanup before he goes anywhere, lol.

This is truly exciting! Tea-sipping ghost is touching and not as scary, and Eldahil shows remarkable loyalty and presence of mind.

Author Reply: No, he is more sad and confused than scary. Though I am sure he felt better after a cup of tea. :)
Thanks for your kind review!

I hope they figure out how to get those arrows out of him and give him some decent clothes before sneaking him past Faramir's guards. LOL! This looks to be an exciting story. Can't wait for the next chapter.

Author Reply: Yes, he isn't going to get far looking like that! I am glad you are enjoying this, and thanks so much for commenting.

Curiouser and curiouser! I wonder what Faramir will think when he sees his brother? Looking forward to that!

Author Reply: We haven't quite gotten to the reunion, but I promise it will be soon. Thanks for reviewing!

Intriguing first chapters. Makes me curious to continue reading (always a good thing). I did wonder, though, since you have not mentioned him at all, why Boromir needed to speak with Faramir, the Steward, and not also with the king. Since it was a threat to Minas Tirith, and not to his brother specifically. Or maybe that is something that will become clear later?

Author Reply: As Boromir says, he has had no news save that Sauron has been overthrown and Denethor has died. He knows that the West has been victorious, but he doesn't know that the king has returned. Aragorn happens to be away from Minas Tirith at the moment, which is one reason that Eldahil doesn't suggest going to see him.

A very fascinating glimpse of the inner workings of Minas Tirith! Making it into a tour for Boromir and Faramir, and letting us see it through their eyes, makes it come alive. And it somehow seemed very appropriate that Boromir would ask about the dead bodies and Faramir about fish! The detail about the coin was so poignant; a very good arc that lifted this beyond just a vignette to a deeper, more touching story that lingers in my thoughts long after.

Author Reply: I am so glad that you enjoyed this, and thanks for reviewing! Boromir is about 14 in this story, so I figured he would be both intrigued and disgusted at the thought of dead bodies in the water supply. And Faramir, as always, is interested in all living things. :)

This is terrific! I love how you mixed humor and horror in this. "...as fanciful as a pile of rocks" actually made me giggle out loud (because yes, I dig that kind of subtle humor, what can I say). Eldahil is the kind of wry, sarcastic sort of character I love. The setting details made me feel I was right there on the ramparts with them, and the men's weeping reaction to Boromir's appearance was touching. I greatly enjoyed this!

Eldahil, who is a very distant relation of Boromir and Faramir, appeared in an earlier story I wrote. I needed an OC, so I brought him back. He is a fun character to write. :)

Great start. Shades of Hamlet. I was rolling on the floor at the last paragraph. Can't wait 'til Faramir hears of this. Well written.

Author Reply: Written with abject apologies to Shakespeare. *grin* Brotherly reunion coming up soon. Thanks so much for the kind review!

What a gorgeous prologue. I love learning of the details of Minas Tirith. I once read a story about the sewers. Fascinating. Thanks for taking the time to think of Minas Tirith's water supply and sharing it with us. One reason Denethor was so sure his city could not be taken.

Author Reply: Thanks so much for the kind review! That City must have been a marvel of engineering.

What an interesting concept! The return of Boromir will certainly have profound effects upon the story as we know it.

Author Reply: I am glad you like the idea. Boromir may or may not be back on a permanent basis. Even he doesn't understand how or why he has returned.
Thanks so much for reviewing!
