| Poor Bilbo! And poor Frodo too, I daresay. I am left wondering just what the wooden hobbits looked like.... Author Reply: Yes-- their ears will not be happy for a few days! I'm thinking just a little carved figure like a wooden soldier, only as a hobbit it would probably be a farmer or something. | |

| They are THE HOBBITS: MERRY, PIPPIN, FRODO and SAM. They are young and fresh-faced, with curly mops of hair and slightly pointed ears. -- Yes! People say we hobbit around -- Well, of course: what else should hobbits do but hobbit? Wonderfully wacky, Dreamflower. I laughed and laughed. I remember seeing Davy Jones on the Ed Sullivan show, in his Broadway Oliver! role as the Artful Dodger. This week's news reports reminded me that was the famous Beatles debut; I much preferred Davy Jones to the Fab Four. Author Reply: I didn't see that particular Ed Sullivan show. I'm not sure why, as we usually watched it, but perhaps we weren't home at the time. I'm glad this made you laugh! | |
