Oh, the Sword-returning scene was lovely! And daaawwwww Glorfindel, writing letters that never got posted but keeping them anyway. A lovely sweet ending! As always, a masterful creation. Looking forwards to your next one!

Author Reply: Hi bookworm. Sorry, I didn't get to this sooner. I'm glad you found the sword cermeony lovely and the ending sweet. Thanks for taking the time to leave reviews for this story and I hope you enjoy my next story just as much.

Poor Finrod. Battle-hardened warrior or not, he'll still need some time to recover from that incident.

Why the Mortals didn't stick to horses instead of cars? Easy answer. Cars aren't only faster, but a lot dryer in torrential rain or a snowstorm – and they have heating ;) You know I love horses, but there's something to be said for more than one horsepower.

Finrod had a rather strange reaction to making these snowflakes. We have seen some of these flashbacks, but one that's all wrong and he recognises it is a new one. And the one to his rescue was even more unusual. But it fits with the Christmas theme, the date and what the old people did to help him.

Author Reply: You're right about that, KItty, especially when a gunshot wound is totally outside his frame of reference. And obviously his flashback is born of the emotional stress of his injury and his fears of what could have happened to him and to his son had things not gone as they did. Luckily, there are many who are anxious to help him work his way through all this and find his joy again. We'll see how it goes as the story progresses. Thanks for reviewing. I really appreciate it.

Hadn't thought about it before, but 'rock band' really doesn't make much sense, when you think about it. No wonder poor Finrod doesn't understand what it is supposed to be!

Quite the convenient way to get tickets to the ball and appropriate clothing. Enviable! Sometimes the Valar have their use.

Author Reply: It doesn't make sense, does it, Kitty? And the Valar are good for something, at least, even if it's to get tickets to the Ball. LOL! Thanks for leaving a comment. It's much appreciated.

You mean Finrod *still* hasn't written that book about punishments after all these ages? Well, if he's bored, he should get a start on it!

Ah ... you know, one of the Maiar should look by and tell Vorondur about Freud working with the sons of Fëanor. He'd have a field day himself from that story!

Obviously not even leaving Aman gets you away from well-meaning and interfering busybodies ;) Though I am glad Fionwë came; it seems Finrod really needs something. I wonder if part of the problem is that he's got nothing particular to do and feels useless, even if he doesn't realise it? Fionwë's challenge certainly could point in the same direction, at least as one of the purposes.

Hm, yes, Finrod needs something to occupy himself with.

Never played Secret Santa myself, but it sounds like a good idea. Besides the costs, if every Elf gave a gift to every other Elf on every occasion, they soon need to enlarge the house. That's something I've been wondering about sometimes. Considering how some are so many thousand years old, how much stuff do they have lying around amassed over the millennia? Not every gift lasts a short time only, after all.

Author Reply: Hi Kitty. I'm sure Vorondur would find the news about Freud quite amusing and he might even envy him. *grin*

We'll see how Fionwë's challenge to Finrod works out and what Finrod learns while exploring the meaning of Christmas.

There are a couple of ways to play Secret Santa and it's fun when you have a large group, whether coworkers or friends and even family members. This version is one that I played with coworkers and it was fun trying to figure out clues and even making up clues about yourself without giving too much away.

Anyway, thanks for reviewing. I appreciate it.

This story was a very unexpected, but even more welcome surprise. I didn't even have time to go into real withdrawal after EA2 ended :) You're such a treasure! Thank you!

Their first Christmas has to be quite a new experience for the Valinórean Elves. And particularly Christmas decorations. From what I can tell, Germany has nothing on the US in that regard ;)

Have to agree with Daeron, it's worrying what our race is inventing. Really wish they'd rather turn their inventiveness to more useful things – what about self-tidying, self-cleaning houses? Imagine all the time we'd have for more fun things then!

Finrod seems to be more affected by his injury than he wants to admit. Glad Glorfindel dragged him into being his apprentice and accompanying him; it seems it did Finrod a world of good.

Author Reply: Hi Kitty. This particular installment of the Elf Academy series is a bridging story between EA and EA3 and focuses on Finrod as he recovers from the shooting and tries to find a purpose for his being in Wiseman. So, we'll see everything from his POV. I'm glad you are excited about this story and I hope you enjoy it as much as you've enjoyed the other EA installments. Thanks for reviewing.

I am sad to see this story end. But it is a good place to stop. I love it that the elves decorate the Christmas tree on Christmas eve. That's the way I grew up. Around here the Christmas tree goes up the day after Thanksgiving, which to me takes a bit away from the anticipation of Christmas. But that is a cultural difference, I'm just not used to.

The sword ceremony was very appropriate and dignified. It had significance for the Three Amigos, and I think now they really understand the responsibility of carrying swords and what it stands for. Findalaure showed this when he said he is not ready. I don't know how they got the swords in Aman, but they clearly didn't understand what that meant then.

Anne seems to be quite a character. She seems to be very smart, and I bet she has tons of questions for her son when she gets back to her hotel. Alex will be hard-pressed to keep her curiosity satisfied until the 7th of January. You realize it is 2 weeks after Christmas. That is a long time for her to ponder what she has seen and heard on Christmas eve. After all she has nothing else to do...

Author Reply: Hi obsidianj. The story had to come to an end somehow. I'm glad you found where I ended it appropriate. We always put our tree up on Christmas Eve too and we would leave it up until Epiphany. I still am unused to people putting the tree (usually an artificial one) right after Thanksgiving and then taking it down the day after Christmas. Oh well...

Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed the sword ceremony. I think in Aman they were given swords as a matter of course, but here they know they've earned them and that makes all the difference.

And Anne is quite a character. I'm sure Alex will keep her busy until the time of the Reveal so she's not asking too many questions he can't answer yet and it's only 12 days to Epiphany (thus the "12 Days of Christmas").

I'm so glad you enjoyed the story and I appreciate all your comments. Thank you.

I like the way the elves got their Christmas tree. It sounds so elvish. Everyone seems to calm down to get ready for the celebration. I'm relieved that Alex and Derek with their parents are back in Wiseman. It sounded ominous that they both had a bad feeling about staying in Fairbanks. I hope Christmas still goes by in peace before the next nasty surprise. Speaking on surprises, I hope Finrod and Glorfindel have a talk before the mortals arrive. It would be damaging for their image and, I think very embarrassing, if the explosion happens in front of the mortals.

Author Reply: Hi obsidianj. I'm glad you liked the way the Elves got their Christmas Tree. It is a very elvish thing to do, I think. Thanks for reviewing. I appreciate it.

Loved the ceremony with the swords, also loved how they did Christmas. Very well written and makes me feel like if I went there I would find them. (If I went there and found them I would be served a restraining order. siiiiggghhh) And the letters from Glorfindel to Finrod was such a warm fuzzy. Elf Academy 3 is on its way? Fantastic!!

Author Reply: Hi Laer. I'm glad you liked the sword ceremony. And I know what you mean about being served a restraining order. *grin* Can't say just when EA3 will see the light of day but hopefully before the end of the year. Thanks for taking the time to leave reviews. I've appreciated each and every one of them.

What a wonderful Christmas. Glad to hear there will be more in Elf Academy III. I have to see what happens in their battle against evil.

Author Reply: Hi Tari. I'm glad you're looking forward to the next EA installment. Thanks for letting me know. I appreciate it and I appreciate you taking the time to leave reviews.

Oh, it's over, sniffle! I want more!

The Sword Ceremony was beautifully done, Findalure's statement that he wasn't ready does prove that he is. Loved Dereks comment to him to stop sniveling!

So Glorfindel finally gets to deliver his Letters to Finrod, hey, that would make a good title for a set of stories about life in Middle Earth after the Great Ice Age. (Yeah, as if you need more Bunnies, that cage must be getting over crowded, time to weed out a few!)

Waiting for E.A. 3.

Huggs,
Lynda

Author Reply: Hi Lynda. I'm glad you enjoyed this chapter and the story. And I'm doing my best to weed out the hutch, but I can only do what I can do. Obviously I'll never run out of ideas at this rate. *grin* Anyway, thanks for your comments. The've been much appreciated.
