What a beautiful story! Such a joy to read and yet heart breaking. I hope to see more on Elrond's life from you... Author Reply: Thank you, Ilya. My time of madly writing LotR stories is past, I think. But every now and then the urge to write is irresistible, so you never know!

This was just lovely, poor Elrond, you truly made me feel for him. I like to think his sons will join him one day after Arwen has no further need of her brothers. A tiny typo, I think you missed a word here "but Valar’s offer had already loosened" Author Reply: Thanks, Linda. I do like to think that Elrond's sons would have needed to go home to their parents when the time came.

Lovely, Bodkin, though full of pain. Elrond lost so much. So glad you at least let his sons come home to him. Tolkien's tone is so melancholy sometimes. Author Reply: Thank you, daw. I do feel that Elrond got rather a raw deal - although I suppose he had centuries of happiness as well. He'll need his sons - and so will Celebrian. The more you think about elves, the more melancholy their immortality seems.

This is a beautifully written, poignant story. Dear Elrond, able to feel hope at last. Author Reply: Thank you. I think Elrond deserves a happy ever after - not that he'll get one until he's reunited with Arwen!

Thank you! It is a nice birthday's gift, even if mine is not even this month. Poor Elrond, always giving parts of him away, I hope that he has an everlasting happiness once he reaches Valinor, he deserves it.

Wonderful! I love stories that trace the different choices made by Elrond and Elros, and the same heart-rending choice faced by Elrond's sons. Although I've read a couple of powerfully written stories where E&E chose different fates, I firmly and whole-heartedly believe that they both chose immortality, but delayed it while Arwen lived. I can't believe they abandoned their sister to old age and death!
