I really like your depiction of Elrond here, along with the other men. One really gets a sense of how the main figures would be seen by other people.

Author Reply: Thank you! It was so interesting to approach these characters from Osbehrt's point of view.

Your story makes me so happy. May all humble deeds of good will be as richly rewarded! I'm on my way to the airport for a trip to see *my* family, but couldn't leave until I read this. :)

Author Reply: I'm honoured! It's so lovely to be writing happy tales after all the pain in the main story. I hope you have a safe and wonderful trip!

Love it, love it, love it! You wrote the family even better this time. Thank you so much!

Author Reply: How sweet of you to say! I'm so glad you enjoyed it, and you're most welcome.

I do love closure, although I will admit to having quite forgotten the names of the children after all this time! It was a pleasant surprise when I realised what was happening, nearly as pleasant as the surprise they got ;-)

Author Reply: How lovely! I'm glad you enjoyed it. It really *has* been a long time since their chapters, hasn't it?

Osbehrt has a good memory, and he is young enough to not care if the man is really a king. The father's fear is understandable, but must have been a shock for Aragorn! The gift of water was rewarded well. And it was good that they counted the chickens, to be known as Elessar Telcontar the chicken-robber would not sound good.

The story-telling moment was lovely, especially when Annis could no longer be silent and took charge, and Eomer's reaction to the story.

The man with the partly grey hair was most likely Imrahil, but was the man with the sad eyes Faramir or Elrond?

Author Reply: Elessar Telcontar the Chicken-Robber? Perhaps in the high tongue it will not sound so ill... blast! I can't find "chicken" in my Quenya lexicon.

Annis taking charge: classic big sister move.

Yes, you're right about Imrahil! The 'young' man with sad eyes was Elrond. Faramir would have no cause for sorrow: he'd fall into the amused-bemused group.

This was a treasure! I loved how gleeful Osbehrt's was at recognizing the King! I was grinning from ear to ear at his insistence, how embarrassing for his mother! I love the tiny glimpses of Eomer, Eowyn, Elrond and Arwen that you provide. Just a question, did Arwen know the tongue of Rohan or did Aragorn whisper the right words to say?
I really love the appendices, I hope there are many more chapters to come!

Author Reply: Thank you! Yes, Aragorn whispered the phrase, and Arwen parroted it (very well, too: Elven ears!). So glad to make you smile. Cheers!

That was awesome. I must say, that these appendixes make the whole story even more amazing and tie in the past and future so so well. I loved Osbehrt's outburst and the fact that no one would believe him. It would have sounded so impossible considering how everyone viewed the king. The poor family. Always fated scare the mother it seems. The way how you unfolded the story and added little background details made it seem real and tied to a specific time period we were familiar with. I love how you included Arwen and Elrond here as well. Both their parts were small but important non the less to the scene. Elrond never got to hear that story, so it was nice he could hear a final story or two from his beloved son of his heart. I just loved how you captured Osbehrt's bubbly, rambunctious, young personality and thoughts perfectly. I can't wait for more of these chapters. Well done.

Author Reply: I'm so glad to know these are enriching to the story! I'm very much enjoying the writing of them. Thank you so much for your words about Arwen and Elrond! And so glad Osbehrt comes across so well...
