Oh there is so much love here between Gimli and the hobbits. I love how Gimli thinks about them. Fixing his braids to be presentable in their working kitchen. (-: I'm very curious about this crystal. I'm figuring Gimli is looking for mines and stones to work and make into a presentable mine? And they have found one for him maybe I"m guessing. (-:

Author Reply: Glad you're enjoying this! There's something ahead for Gimli that he doesn't guess, and hopefully the readers won't guess either. (I'm still working out the details, and having fun doing it.) :)

Such a sweet chapter, love all the banter and what Gimli said about dwarves knowing or not knowing gem from another :)

Author Reply: Thank you! I'm having a good time writing this. :)

Well, that's the way to whet a Dwarf's appetite, and no mistake! Heh!

Lovely ruse being used here. Ah, our beloved Hobbits!

Author Reply: The hobbits have cut through his gloom, and whet his appetite for something new. Praise them! :)

Ah, indeed a useful talent for a Wizard. Heh! Love the details of the meal.

Author Reply: Thank you. I know that the hobbits would want to share whatever they had with their friends.

I'm like Gimli when waking up!

Good to see Gimli so much happier.

Author Reply: Gimli has an interesting and (hopefully) very delightful experience ahead of him. Thank you for reading!

Hehehe. I love how Sam kept telling the unimportant parts of the story. It was all so natural that Gimli can't possibly know it was in any way planned.
I liked that Gimli wanted to please Sam by opening the windows. I'd be happier with Gimli's way of waking up. Less sunlight and more dark. : )

Author Reply: I love how Sam kept telling the unimportant parts of the story.

Praise from the praiseworthy, my friend! :)

It's interesting to imagine these three living together.

Another wonderful chapter. Poor Gimli, you describe his depression so well, I can feel it myself. Of course he's lonely and feeling useless. A dwarf needs rocks to delve and jewels to discover and polish. So clever of Gandalf to find a place where he might discover what he needs, and the hobbits to tease him about it until they push him out of his doldrums.

Author Reply: I don't think the hobbits could resist making a game out of teasing Gimli into a frenzy of curiosity. I'm ever so glad you're enjoying this. :)

Awwwwwwwwwwwww!! A conspiracy! I love it. Frodo and Sam manage Gimli perfectly and he has no notion at all that he's being managed. *g*

Author Reply: Tricksssy hobbitses, so often underestimated. Thank you so much!

Wonderful chapter Shire,
Lol I must have some "dwarf" in me because I was close to shaking Sam and Frodo myself. My kids think I'm nuts for yelling "where, where"!! at my laptop.

Gimili didn't stand a chance

Author Reply: *grins* I'm thrilled to know that you were that engaged with the chapter. Dear Gimli! Entwining your life with hobbits means that life is never dull, and your stomach is never empty. :)

I think you could have titled this chapter 'How To Catch A Dwarf', as you are dangling the right bait!

Lynda

Author Reply: LOL, I should have consulted with you! I had two or three titles in mind, none of which I like as well as yours.
