Oh KathyG and Dreamflower! I'm sorry I'm so far behind on reviewing - RL came and slammed into me *hard*, and while I've been reading along faithfully, being coherent enough to review slipped past me. (I have, however, begun making a Disney YouTube playlist for chapter titles!)

I loved the songs sung in this chapter in praise of Eru and to seek comfort, mourning Gandalf, and I especially loved the journey into Lothlorien, meeting its Lord and Lady! You know how much I love Galadriel (obviously!) I'll do my best to catch up on reviews today.

Author Reply: I'm glad you're back, and I'll look forward to reading your other reviews! Hopefully, RL will be kinder to you after this.

Author Reply: I can't wait to get a chance to check out your YouTube channel with the songs! DF

Happy Birthday, KarenG! I hope you're having a great day. :)

It's interesting to imagine Kevin at Helm's Deep.

Author Reply: Thank you! I appreciate it.

Yeah, it is, isn't it? =)

Author Reply: Kevin at Helm's Deep was a good deal of fun to write. We are well into the parts in which our story will diverge more from the original due to the presence of the children. Kevin will make a big difference at Helm's Deep. DF

A joy they have in one another.

Author Reply: Yep!

At least they are now in a safe place with quite the protector, and their parents are on their way to find and join them.

Author Reply: And thank goodness for that, huh?

I do wish that the SoA server would send me notifications of reviews, so I would know to respond to them as soon as I receive them!

It was a very long story at this point, but Treebeard did not seem to notice.

LOL, of course he didn't. He's an Ent!

I enjoyed the lovely departure from Rivendell.

Author Reply: LOL! Indeed!. =)

I'm glad you enjoyed that. The elder McClouds and their 2 youngest daughters have quite a journey ahead of them, looking for the rest of their children.

A wonderful reunion, and love the new message poems. I rejoice that Boromir's presence will prove of benefit once they reach Edoras. And I do love Treebeard!

Author Reply: Me, too! Thank goodness Jennifer, Joey, and the hobbits are in good hands with Treebeard. And thank goodness Boromir is NOT just a fond memory, as he is in the book and the movies!

Author Reply: We've been having a lot of fun writing Treebeard. DF

"And how do you know your trees are not sentient if they do not speak?" Treebeard asked, his voice sounding amused, and both children found themselves wondering about that.

Such a wonderful thing to ponder. It's wonderful that Boromir and Kevin were included in the Lady's rhyming advice. I like that idea very much. :)

Author Reply: Thanks! I'm glad you do. K.G.

Author Reply: We had quite a time coming up with appropriate verses for Boromir and Kevin. We hope events will prove up to the hints in the poems.

I'm always conflicted between fantasy books/movies and Christianity myself. Does God truly want me reading things like that and will reading it (supporting it by my views) lead other people into by drawn to magic & occult. Maybe writing it could as well but thats something youd have to pray about yourself.

Author Reply: Well, don't forget that C.S. Lewis also wrote fantasy--The Chronicles of Narnia And he was a born-again Christian. J.R.R. Tolkien was a devout Catholic, and his writings reflected his beliefs, as you will discover if you ever decide to research him in-depth. I have no qualms, myself, about reading their stories or writing fanfiction about them.

A good reaction to Treebeard. Am glad that Jennifer is aware of how Treebeard is accidently hurting the Hobbits. And we're aware of where the entire Fellowship is now.

Author Reply: Yes, we are.

So, into the woods they go, fleeing the fight and into the welcome of Fangorn Forest and Treebeard. Good enough!

I'm of as northern of northers European stock as is possible, although my ancestors were mostly early comers to the American colonies. Some fought on the Tory side in the Revolution, while my father's family were among the Patriots. Was born to an Air Force family stationed in Central America at the time, but Dad died when his plane crashed when I was still a baby and so I grew up within the U.S. I studied Spanish in school, and helped a former student who had been born in Guatemala with her Spanish studies, doing a lot of brailling of her textbooks when we couldn't get them from other sources. I read Spanish far better than I speak it, and have read LOTR and the Harry Potter books in Spanish as well as English as well as the Bible. I began collecting translations of the Bible when a fundamentalist classmate in college kept telling me that my different interpretation of the Bible was due to not reading an accurate one. Comparisons of the various translations have shown that they all say basically the same things; it's not that the KJV, NKJV, Phillips, New Jerusalem, or New English have the interpetations wrong, but that her specific denomination was picking and choosing verses so as to appear to support what they wanted their parishioners to believe. Same thing with the Watchtower Society and how JWs are indoctrinated. About half my translations have Jonah being swallowed by a whale while the rest read "big fish." Even my Jewish translations are unclear as to what specific creature swallowed Jonah. Had a LONG argument with one correspondent about that one as he kept insisting it was a whale. Apparently the exact nature of the creature was less important than that he was brought to land by it still alive and capable of thinking and speaking, while George was certain that what swallowed him was what was important.

So,

Author Reply: It was a big fish of some kind, whatever kind it was. It could well have been a whale!

Yep, they've escaped, and now they're in Fangorn Forest.

Author Reply: I grew up with the KJV in Sunday School, and I also read a lot of books in grade school that were full of "speaking forsoothly", such as Howard Pyle's version of Robin Hood, Ivanhoe, and so forth. So that's the version most familiar to me, and I love the language.

OTOH, in college I took Koine Greek, and began to learn the inaccuracies of many translations (the KJV not the least of them).
