Like a Blade Forged in Fire  by Lialathuveril 91 Review(s)

Lialathuveril!

LOL!! "Somehow he got the helmet off and thrust it to the side, where somebody caught it." Love this line.

And yeah!!!! Orcs are apparently good for something. Good for getting Lothíriel to admit her true feelings. I can imagine Eothain trying desperately not to smile as he had Éomer his helmet. The Question is....can Erkenbrand come back to Edoras now that Lothíriel has finally admitted her feelings!

And this line!

"That moment, he loved the whole world, even the orcs. He would still kill them though."

Love that!

Stay safe!

((hugs))

Author Reply: Yes, it's a miracle Eothain and the rest of the men didn't start cheering out loud on the spot ;-)

As for Erkenbrand, he might eventually be forgiven, I think, now that Eomer is in a better mood again...

Stay safe too!

Yikes! Sunnild, Lotherial and Khuri will have their hands full leading the group of women and children anyway. Now, with night falling on the open plain with no place to hide... Eomer, hurry! Now, I think the loyal little stallion may be a factor in protecting his lady savior. I hope he survives the encounter!

Author Reply: Yes, the group of women and children will be slow, but the Haradrim have quite far to go. And then of course there's Eomer and his men on their heels. We'll see who will win this race...

Thanks for following!

Oh dear! The orcs were just the cover! Hope they catch up on time with the baddies!

Author Reply: Yes, I'm afraid the orcs were just a distraction. Though if they had managed to kill the King of Rohan, that would have been welcome too.

Laughed out loud on Eothain’s slip of the tongue re: “the Que—-“ so priceless! Maybe Eomer needs to thank the Orcs for their incursion! A question crossed my mind though as to who is more lethal—a happy Eomer or a sulky Eomer haha but based on the last line of this chapter I think a happy Eomer is more lethal for the orcs!

Author Reply: Yes, nothing like a bunch of friendly orcs to further one's romance ;-) And the Rohirrim will probably be relieved when they can finally stop worrying about what to call Lothiriel!

Thanks for reviewing!

That last line--it is wonderful! Heh! Love it!

Author Reply: Thank you :-)

Lialathuveril!

Finally we get to the point where Lothíriel finally or at least partially opens up to Éomer!

“Éomer, I will be honest with you: taking you into my bed would be easy.”

Involuntarily he choked. “What?”

LOL!! It is a good thing that Éomer was not drinking wine at the time! Choking and coughing up a lung in the process is SUCH a mood breaker! :-))

You handled this section very well. A deft and light touch through a difficult conversation! Just lovely!

Honesty serves Éomer well here.

So looking forward to your next chapter!

Stay safe!

Author Reply: LOL, that was a bit of a shocker for poor Eomer, wasn't it. Hopefully it won't upset his delicate sensibilities ;-)

And I'm a great believer in being honest and talking to each other, so it's definitely a step forward for the two.

Stay safe too!

Well, he's not making a hash of it now! He is listening, really listening, and letting her tell her tale in her own words. And she accepts that his is not an idle fancy, but one that is thought out as well as instinctive. And he understands the language with which she was brought up.

Now, if she will relax and accept his offering. At least she knows it is voluntary, and that she will not be kept in gilded captivity should she accept his love.

A worthy courtship, this.

Author Reply: An important step for Eomer to listen to her and learn the truth, isn't it. And for Lothiriel to be able to unburden herself for maybe the first time - though perhaps not completely.

Thanks for reviewing!

Obviously he has had it forced upon him that not all Haradrim were monsters, and that it was possible for one such as Lothiriel to find one worthy of her love. Now, for Eomer to heal the damage done by letting her know his imaginings of what Arantar was like, which will NOT be an easy task.

But at least she now knows that he loves her, which is actually a good thing, or will turn out to be one in the end.

Author Reply: I too think that it's always better to have things out in the open and that Lothiriel finally knowing that he loves her is a good thing - as is Eomer learning that she loved her husband (though he might find it difficult to accept at first!).

I felt very hopeful for Eomer after reading this chapter. I think Tarcil and Amrothos and Khuri are all in favor of Eomer in their own way. It’s good that they had that talk—looking forward to the next one.

Author Reply: Yes, it's definitely a step forward. And I agree that Tarcil and Khuri are in favour or at least not actively opposed to Eomer marrying Lothiriel. But first he has to convince the lady herself.

Last point before I quit this story. This portrayal of Eomer is better suited to someone else. Someone who is not tainted by the enemy. An enemy that in lotr, should have been completely wiped out. Why should the rohirrim welcome her and her son? Eomer must feel betrayed

Author Reply: I have to agree with you, it's probably better if you quit reading this story. I don't think you'd enjoy it.
