A Shire Sketchbook
As I'm feeding more plot bunnies than can be put into the longer stories I've created a place where I can put the shorter tales of our favourite hobbits. Some stories will be set in my usual AU while others may be closer to canon. Chapter 39. On a summer morning Frodo and Sam discover a most unexpected visitor in the garden at Bag End. Chapter 40. Sometimes the best place to hide is the most obvious........

A Realm Regained
It is 1434 Shire Reckoning, and most of Middle-earth is free. One realm remains in the clutches of evil, and the usual suspects gather in a great enterprise to free it. (The Muse has finally returned with a host of plot bunnies). The usual Reunion-verse AU, with most of the characters you might expect and some you may not. Rating may rise in future chapters.

The Mathom House
As 'Shire Sketchbook' is for hobbity stories, I decided to have somewhere for stories involving other characters - although those hobbits manage to sneak in, even here. Chapter 7. Remembering the most innocent lives lost in time of war.

A Centenary of Special Significance
King Elessar is due to celebrate his one hundredth birthday in Rethe 1431. With the Travellers unable to go, must the King celebrate this most special birthday without a few hobbits to help? Or is this a chance for others of the Shire-folk to show their quality? Chapter 11. It's the day after the party and time for some discussions.

A New Road
The Tale of Years says that Sam left the Shire in 1482 SR - on Frodo's birthday - and went to the Havens. But what happened on that date in my AU, when he has no need to seek the Havens? Sad, in a happy sort of way, and not what I was intending to write for Yule.

Birthday Surprises
The usual 'Reunion-verse' AU. Astron 1430 and it is Sam's 50th birthday. Merry and Pippin have surprises planned. Oh dear, thinks Frodo. Rated for some discussion of hobbit drinking songs. Final chapter now up. One final feast, advice and interesting tales as the guests enjoy one more day in the Shire.

Tea and Seedcake and the Influence of Hobbits
What would a merchant from Lebennin make of the new regime and the Court of King Elessar four years after the War of the Ring? There are some surprises in store for Merlindor when he arrives in Minas Tirith. Canon, with a guest appearance from two of our favourite hobbits. Not sure where this tale came from - it just appeared and demanded to be written.

Buckland Celebration
In LOTR, Professor Tolkien tells us that the hobbits did not mark the destruction of the Ring or, sadly, Frodo's birthday, but they did celebrate the first blowing of the Horn of the Mark in the Shire, on November 2nd. In October 1428 SR, before the trip to Gondor, a group of Tooks, Gamgees and one very important Baggins goes to Brandy Hall.

Reunion in Minas Tirith
If Frodo had remained in Middle-earth what would his life have been like? In this AU story, in 1429 Shire Reckoning, a group of friends travel to Gondor for a 10 year reunion for Ring-Day. G shading to PG-13 in later chapters for discussion of adult themes. Chapters 3 is PG-13 due to talk of suicide and self-harm, and Chapters 7 & 12 due to mention of abuse. Chapter 11 may need a fluff warning.
