Ai, poor Legolas! (again). The Hobbits were so valiant, but no match for the men. The fact that their leader knows so much about Hobbit families and villages worries me, somehow - he ses that Pippin is a tweenager. And he knows who Legolas is. Not good, not good! Poor Legolas, being dragged along like that - not good for his injuries; not good for his pride. He knows he can't fight, and knows he has been taken simply for who he is. And poor Aragorn - arriving just too late. I can imagine his guilt. Jay

You are, without a doubt, the cliffhanger queen... I swear! I am eating this one up too, Budgie, dear. Pray, do continue!

girlofring · 13 July 2004 · Chapter 3: Chapter Three

okay, keep leading us on, and unable to track the "hunters" for days now because our Fellowship do not have any horses. Unthinkable! what will you put our captives through? I wonder.

Bodkin · 13 July 2004 · Chapter 3: Chapter Three

Save that elf! Rescue that hobbit! Pronto. What vile men - good thing Frodo thought to conceal Pippin's identity. But Frodo should have run - he could have led them into Aragorn and Boromir, not to mention the wizard. You can't let them get too far (please), Legolas needs help. Another great story from Budgielover.

Tapetum Lucidum · 13 June 2004 · Chapter 2: Chapter Two

I am a big Legolas fan and I love this so far! Having the poor wood elf fall from the tree was a mean way to get him injured! How embarrassing! Only the hobbits could get him to climb a dead tree. If Frodo turned those baby blues on anyone they would surely follow him to Mordor. I love the halfling interaction so far and their concern over the wounded comrade. Having the bad, bad men come in was a nice addition. Looking forward to your next chapter.

Bodkin · 13 June 2004 · Chapter 2: Chapter Two

Poor suffering Legolas. I might have known that along would come the baddies. I was just thinking - I can't remember all that many bad men in the original (except as armies). Yet there must have been lots. I hope the suffering doesn't go on for too long - those warriors should be quite close by now, and I recall the hobbits making a pretty good show in parts of R in R (among others of your tales). Go for it, Sam - shame you do not have your frying pan handy. Use the slings. Show them small doesn't mean defenceless! Save the elf. Looking forward to the next part.

Jay of Lasgalen · 13 June 2004 · Chapter 2: Chapter Two

Oh dear. This Is Not Good. And it's strange how the man knows so much about the Shire, and who Legolas's father is. A ransom? As I said, This Is Not Good! Jay

Sigil Galen · 13 June 2004 · Chapter 2: Chapter Two

I'm really adoring the interaction between the hobbits and Legolas in this fic. I always love your hobbits, but seeing them through Legolas' eyes makes them seem even more endearing somehow. And hey, I thought this was just a small humerous piece, but it looks like we've got an adventure on our hands! Excllent, can't wait for an update.

Elenar · 12 June 2004 · Chapter 2: Chapter Two

Very exciting, can't wait for more.

nat · 12 June 2004 · Chapter 2: Chapter Two

Pearl Took · 12 June 2004 · Chapter 2: Chapter Two

Oh my! We are in for quite a ride, I see. Wonderful angsty start. You've got me hooked.

Lily Baggins · 12 June 2004 · Chapter 2: Chapter Two

Oh my goodness, this was great... so far this story is among my favorites of yours. Lando and Billeh? Hee . . . very funny. And the hobbits' concern for Legolas is so sweet and adorable and gah---how come I don't have hobbits here caring for me? And the others' disbelief that Legolas fell out of a tree . . . you manage to put good, subtle humor in all your stories, and I love that so much. But of course, my favorite thing is the nasty, nasty ruffians---ugh, they're so hideous and without any honor and the lead one --- Harlan --- seems to have ulterior motives regarding Frodo. jjffdkdghghghhdddss!!!! You have to KNOW how much I love stories in which Frodo is at the seeming mercy of a big bad ruffian guy, who leers at him, with the others in the Fellowship concerned . . . it really made my day to read that part. Honestly. Now, WHY do I have a feeling Aragorn and company won't be showing up at the exact opportune moment?

Wendy · 12 June 2004 · Chapter 2: Chapter Two

Well, let's just say you made MY Saturday night by posting this chapter! Excellent writing as always - the characterizations are dead on. I've always enjoyed your work and am even more thrilled to find a story with Legolas at the center. Gracias and add another chapter soon!!

shirebound · 12 June 2004 · Chapter 2: Chapter Two

Billeh? Hee hee But on with the review... I've been dying for more of this story! And it's so wonderful, Budgie. There's not a twist of a plot that you can't twist into a *new* twist of a plot. Amazing. "Stealthily, Pippin slid the hilt of the blade into the Elf’s hand then drew one of Legolas’ knives to himself, tucking the bared blade under the edges of the improvised blankets that covered Legolas." I continue to adore your ingenious hobbits. And this is the Legolas I love from "Snowball Fight", where his thoughts are always for the wellbeing of the Ringbearer, at whatever cost to himself.

girlofring · 12 June 2004 · Chapter 2: Chapter Two

What a turn of events. Legolas the one who is in trouble and about to be "bait". Cannot wait for the next chapter. Strip search the hobbits, well there is a hint of something else going on there "he did not like the way the leader had appraised the Ringbearer's slender form".

Lossenchristal · 12 May 2004 · Chapter 1: Chapter One

Oooh! This one looks like it is going to be interesting!:)I loved the way the hobbits slyly got Legolas to climb the tree for them!;) I am going to be following this story closely! Please update soon!:) Namarië, ~Lossenchristal

Yay, a new story from Budgielover! What am I saying? Weeks and weeks of unbearably evil cliffies....

shirebound · 11 May 2004 · Chapter 1: Chapter One

This already looks like a classic, Budgie. You've set up a wonderfully easy, long-forged friendship between Legolas and Aragorn, and brought back another installment of your delightful, beautifully written, oh-so-clever (and forever innocent of wrongdoing) hobbits. “No, not harm,” Aragorn returned, both agreeing and disagreeing, “not deliberate harm. But -” “I understand you have experienced a few unfortunate … uh, incidents with the little folk, which surely cannot be blamed upon them -” “That’s just it,” interrupted the man seriously. “It’s never their fault. Somehow they end up covered in roses and I end up covered in manure. I don’t know how they do it.” How DO they do it? Hee hee. I already can't wait for Chapter 2!

Nikara · 11 May 2004 · Chapter 1: Chapter One

Very interesting. I love stories that take place in the middle of the books. More soon please!

lwarren · 11 May 2004 · Chapter 1: Chapter One

I have loved your hobbit-centered stories since first reading Out of All Knowledge (which,BTW, I'm rereading as I type :).....), and your character of Legolas in Recovery at Rivendell and Snowball Fight was very good. When I saw this new posting, tho', I almost hyperventilated - Budgielover writing a story centered on the elf? Ai! Such a reward to end a trying day! Thank you!!!! Now, my poor, greatly tormented Legolas has fallen out of a tree...don't tell the dwarf, indeed! I cannot wait for the next chapter...umm, well, I guess I can, but hurry....evil cliffies have been multiplying like rabbits all over this site lately! Can I stand the strain? Doubtful! ;) linda

Ophium · 11 May 2004 · Chapter 1: Chapter One

Very well written! I dont follow many stories that revolve around the Hobbits, being more of an elf-fan myself, but I love everytime they join in the adventure... and the way you write them is very, very *g* hobbit-like. Loved the first chapter, hope you update soon ;)

Jay of Lasgalen · 11 May 2004 · Chapter 1: Chapter One

I don't believe it! *Legolas* fell out of a *tree*? Ouch, the poor elf! Sounds like he could be badly hurt. So which will be worst - the injuries to his body, or the damage to his pride? I look forward to finding out. I love your stories, especially when they feature more elves! Jay

Lamiel · 11 May 2004 · Chapter 1: Chapter One

Oh wonderful! I have greatly enjoyed your Hobbit stories, but it is a special treat to have such a great writer turn her attention to my much loved, much abused favorite Elf. I cannot wait for more! Thank you, thank you!

fliewatuet · 11 May 2004 · Chapter 1: Chapter One

This is a very promising start! Somehow, I am glad that this time Aragorn gets a reprive from 'ending up covered in the manure' (I am still grinning at this statement:D). But Legolas seems to get his fill. His Famous Last Thought (though I doubt it is the last) hoping that no one will tell Gimli is just priceless. I wonder if this wish will be granted. BTW, I read 'Sweets and Secret Ingredients' a couple of days ago and I loved it! Will there be another chapter? I would love to read more about the reaction of the others to the sweets (and their special ingredients;)) fliewatuet
