Chicken Pox! I knew it, but I didn't. Can't wait for more! :D
Author's reply
Yes. I think Merry will be happy that it`s something you only can suffer once.

Grey Wonderer · 4 February 2005 · Chapter 3: PART THREE: It begins
Looks like Merry is in for a very rough time and then the Tooks may have three sick daughters to see to as well. I am wondering if they will have to send for Merry's parents. I enjoyed him trying to talk himself into being too grown up to need his mum for this illness and the way he tried to assure himself that Pippin's mum would take good care of him just like she always did Pippin. I think Merry may just need his mum before this is over. Looking forward to more now that I am caught up.
Author's reply
Thank you! Merry is still a child and being sick isn`t something he`s used to much either, so wanting his mum is quite natural though. Still he`s so used to seeing his aunt care for Pippin so he know she does that well and with love.
Grey Wonderer · 4 February 2005 · Chapter 2: PART TWO: Promises given
Lovely how Merry managed to reassure Pippin even though he didn't feel up to the task. I am also enjoying seeing Pippin look out for Merry this time. In reading this I realized how few stories there are with either Merry or Sam as the sick or injured ones. You are doing a wonderful job on this!
Author's reply
Thank you! I realised too how few of those stories there are, so I do my best to contribute to the lot, lol.
Grey Wonderer · 4 February 2005 · Chapter 1: PART ONE: Tea and a nap
Just foudn this and already you are on chapter three! Looks like I will need to catch up a bit. I wonder what poor Merry has? I think it's interesting that they are not used to Merry ever being sick. It gives this an interesting twist of the unexpected.
Author's reply
They are all in for some surprises, yes. :) Thank you for reading.
Larner · 4 February 2005 · Chapter 3: PART THREE: It begins
Well written and excellent characterization. Poor Merry--chicken pox! I remember getting it when I was in sixth grade--was pretty awful.
Author's reply
Thank you! I remember having it too, but I was 4 I think and it wasn`t fun. :)
Dreamflower · 4 February 2005 · Chapter 3: PART THREE: It begins
This is so sweet. Poor Merry, stuck with chicken pox. But at least they are not going to have to keep his Pip away from him, for a change Pippin can't get what he has. And poor Eglantine--none of her daughters have had it yet? Uh-oh, she's going to be really overwhelmed! You don't suppose Frodo will turn up to help, do you?
Author's reply
Thank you! Yes it`s good Pip has already had it. And Eglantine will have a stressful time of this. Taking care of sick people is hard work. You don't suppose Frodo will turn up to help, do you? Well, he is on the list of characters... :)
Pearl Took · 4 February 2005 · Chapter 3: PART THREE: It begins
This is coming along so well! I like that Pippin is getting to be the care giver and that Pervinca is being so kind to her brother. Well done!!
Author's reply
Thank you! I think Pervinca is just as scared over her cousin being sick as Pippin is and if there`s anything she can do to help, she`d do it.
Ariel · 4 February 2005 · Chapter 3: PART THREE: It begins
Happy to see this one so promptly updated. Keep it coming, Anso!
Author's reply
Thanks! More is coming soon. i`m afriad I haven`t read your update yet, but I`m going between bed and the computer at the moment so I will get there, and I am looking forward to it.
shirebound · 4 February 2005 · Chapter 3: PART THREE: It begins
"Poor Merry! Maybe he would die after all, because if Pippin were to judge by how Merry looked this morning, he didn`t have long left." Poor Pippin!! Oh my, what a wonderful, loving (and suspenseful) story.
Author's reply
Thank you! Yes, Pippin is in for a hard time, he is that. And when there`s nothing he can do to make Merry happy he gets very worried.
pipinheart · 3 February 2005 · Chapter 2: PART TWO: Promises given
Very nice... pippin thinks Merry is going to leave him and dosen't want to play with him anymore. Merry straightens him out,but worries himself as he feels so tired. Merry is sick and goes to bed as Pippin watches over him,his aunt and uncle worrie as well since Merry is always well. Nice story, can't wait to hear more....
Author's reply
Thank you for reading! They are all worried over what is happening to Merry, including himself. This is new to all of them and they aren`t used to see Merry anything but healthy and well.
Larner · 2 February 2005 · Chapter 2: PART TWO: Promises given
Excellently written, and good characterizations. Am hoping Pippin doesn't catch (or recatch) whatever it is.
Author's reply
Thank you! :) Pippin is easily exposed to illness so Merry would wonder if he might catch what Merry`s got too.
Lindelea · 2 February 2005 · Chapter 2: PART TWO: Promises given
Oh, I love how Pippin reasons things through in his "little-kid" way... And his fierce protectiveness of Merry. And Eglantine's wisdom, that Pippin's probably already exposed, so why separate him from Merry now? What *is* wrong with Merry, anyhow? You've got me on pins and needles!
Author's reply
Thank you for your nice comments! This is completely new for all of them and they all worry about Merry, including himself. He doesn`t know what is happening either and doesn`t recognise the tiredness. Poor lad, he known trhough sitting with Pippin how it is to be ill, but he barely has any experience on it himself. And what it is? hehe *evil grin* just wait and see... :)
shirebound · 2 February 2005 · Chapter 2: PART TWO: Promises given
Oh, why do I think things *won't* be better in the morning! Poor Pippin is about to go through something very traumatic, isn't he? *frets* “I`ll take care of you then, Mer.” Pippin said, tugging on Merry`s blanket and covering him up, tucking the soft material up under Merry`s chin. He didn`t think he could cope with taking care of his Mer if Merry was going to die, though of course he would have tried his best, and he was very glad that Merry had promised he wouldn’t. Pippin would do all in his might to see that Merry didn’t hurt too much, and that he got well fast, just like Merry always did for him. “Thank you Pippin.” Merry reached out and Pippin willingly crawled into his lap, hugging Merry tight. I just adore all the love in this story, and that Pippin's questions and concerns are answered and not dismissed. It's obvious that he and Merry are just inseparable. And now there's a very important promise to be kept, isn't there?
Author's reply
Thank you for such nice comments! Pip is definitely in for a trial, that much can be revealed, lol. I think they so easily take Pippin`s questions and concerns seriously since they have dealt so much with illness and any little cold can turn dangerous for Pippin. They are however not used to Merry feeling ill, so they are all on pins and needles to see what this is that has made him so very tired.
Redstarr · 2 February 2005 · Chapter 2: PART TWO: Promises given

Excellent beginning, with just the right touch of problems building.

Thank you! Chapter two is up now.
Pippinheart · 2 February 2005 · Chapter 1: PART ONE: Tea and a nap
Very nice... Merry is acting like himself, not eating for a hobbit means trouble. Merry taking a nap, I think he is feeling unwell. Pippin is concerned,Merry hasn't been palying with him as he usually does, and he wonders if he is tired of him being around. Please keep up the good work, can't wait to hear more.
Author's reply
Merry is unwell, yes, and that of course makes Pippin concerned. He hasn`t seen Merry unwell before and all of this is a new experience for him.
Starfire_Moonlight · 31 January 2005 · Chapter 1: PART ONE: Tea and a nap
I like this! Whats up with Mer? Got the flu? Can't wait for more.:D
Author's reply
Thank you! Of course, I can`t tell you what it is. No-one`s got the flu though... :)
Redstarr · 31 January 2005 · Chapter 1: PART ONE: Tea and a nap
Great start! I love your stories-mostly because they're all about my favorite hobbit! Keep continuing with this! =D
Author's reply
Thank you! More is coming. :)
Lindelea · 31 January 2005 · Chapter 1: PART ONE: Tea and a nap
O hurrah! An Anso story to savour! I do love your Merry, your regard for and understanding of the character shines through. though raids on the larders didn’t usually affect Merry’s appetite. This had me chuckling; it rings true! couldn`t remember Merry ever taking a nap unless it was because Pippin needed one Another little facet of Merry's character; you can see his way of taking care of Pippin without appearing to take care of him. Her nephew was a cheerful whirlwind, only her own son surpassed him in energy, and the two of them could eat more than the rest of her family combined. What a nice picture you paint here! As usual, looking forward to more.
Author's reply
Thank you! I think Merry watches out for Pippin whenever he has the opportunity and he does it even in sleep.
Pearl Took · 31 January 2005 · Chapter 1: PART ONE: Tea and a nap

shirebound · 31 January 2005 · Chapter 1: PART ONE: Tea and a nap
Oooh, what a wonderful beginning! I love Pippin trying to reason things out, but coming up with only concern and confusion. "If Merry couldn’t eat, he didn’t want to eat either. Feeling his family looking at him, he grasped his fork and tried to swallow down another bite or two, but it didn`t taste right anymore. What was wrong with his Merry?" Looking forward to more!
Author's reply
Thank you! When soemthing is amiss with his Mer, Pippin always tries to find out what it is and how he can help. Seeing Merry so tired is a competely new situation for him and he doesn`t have any answers to what might be wrong.
Periantari · 31 January 2005 · Chapter 1: PART ONE: Tea and a nap
very good story so far--i can't wait to read more. =) It's funny how you characterize a suspicious Pippin wondering why Merry would be more tired than usual and not play as much. Seems like he knows more Merry better than the adults. hehe :)
Author's reply
Thank you! Pippin would know his Merry very well, I think. And he has no consept of things being amiss with Merry and not getting any solution to it.
